Hello genii,
Can anyone who has connected a slide pot to this card come to my aid please? I feel like I'm missing step! I've got these nice 100K slide pots from Rapid online. Ian@737NG showed me how to solder them and connect the correct pins. I connect pin 2 to the axis I want and the other two to ground and 5V. So . . . it should be recognised and work?

Yes?

No????

Because it doesn't. Nothing happens in FS. Also in the Game controllers section of Control panel, the Calibrate option is greyed out so I cannot see if it works there. Leo's forum is not helpful.

Any ideas? I've tried several pots from different manufacturers....

hello nigel........
ok, if the pot is not being recognised in the Control Panel/Game Controllers Properties Page nor in FS/FSUIPC, then windows
is not detecting it as attached to the card.
if you are in trouble, send me the pot and i'll check it out for you. or, i may even have a spare one here which i can solder
up, check and send to you.
try hooking up the pot to the card and restarting your machine. windows will only see a new axis on an X board next time
it boots up.
another point is how many axes have you got hooked up. braian made a point which i also came accross in that any more than
6 axes will not be seen in FS/FSUIPC.
just a couple of ideas for you to chew on over the weekend.
have a good one...... regards ... ian

Nigel,
Disconnect all pots and unplug and plug back in the card.See if windows recognise the card.If it does then plug in a pot in and see what happens. If their is something wrong with your pot connection then windows will pop up a message and will disconnect the board. You must then disconnect your pots and the card and and reconnect the card for the board to be recognised again.
This automatic disconnect of the card can happen if you load the 5volt line say by shorting it out momentarily.Hope fully Ian has wired your pot correctly so this shouldnt happen.Ive accidentally shorted my one out and had to reconnect the board to get it recognised again.

Hope this helps.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried all of the above. :-( Nothing has worked. I know the pot works - I have checked it with the multimeter. I've tried every combination of dicsonnect/reconnect/reboot I can think of. 'Calibrate' stays stubbornly greyed out. This, coupled with a very weird and apparently unsolvable problem with my Saitek throttles means I cannot fly and I am so frustrated trying to solve these things that I want to smash the whole &*$Ģing thing to pieces.

Perhaps this is a normal part of the process?!?!

Where's Leo Bodnar when we need him?! I love your products, Leo, but your support needs a little work!

Nigel,
Is it being recognised in windows and the Calibration is greyed out?.If so it appears that its something in O/S.What about using FSUIPC to calibrate them.It could be tied up with your Saitek throttle.
You are right about wanting to smash it up,been there many times. We do come back for more and you will beat it.Have tried both of your units on another PC.
Although i think something may be screwed in the OS.Sorry cant offer more at the moment but stick with it,you have agreat sim there.

Hi Nigel,

So do you see these sliders activated in control panel or DIView?
DIView http://www.leobodnar.com/products/BU0836A/DIView.zip can be used for calibration if standard control panel does not work.
It is important to figure out whether the problem lies in hardware or in Windows software.
Cheers

Hi Leo,
Thanks very much for posting! I do appreciate it. I've downloaded that utility and I will try it out tomorrow. Stay tuned for the results, fingers crossed!

:) IT WORKS IT WORKS IT WORKS! :)

Excellent....I guess three times is the charm. three hundred times to disconnect the card and reconnect. I don't care - it works. Let my throttle project commence!

Thanks to all who helped, and esp. Leo for his brilliant cards.

Nigel.
