View Full Version : Wiring diagram for real B737 throttle lever

I apologize if this has been discussed before. I couldn't find it by searching.

I manged to get a real B737 landing gear lever, complete with solenoid and switches. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this beast?

There are two wires coming from the solenoid, which is marked 28v, hard to tell if it's 5A or .5A. There seemed to be a diode between the two leads coming off the solenoid.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It is .5 amp. The diode is standard on solenoids and is used as a voltage clamp to protect the circuit when the solenoids releases. Usually, +28Vdc goes to the connection where the Anode or (line painted on diode) is facing. Hope that helps.

You can easily remove the diode and then try to put a separate 24 V dc voltage on the coil. The diode blocks trancients that occur when power is turned off from the coil.
I recommend that you mounting the diode again, and better two diodes, since trancients can destroy electronics.
Put an ampere meter in series with the coil and read your power (0.5 or 5 amp).
If you have an ohmmeter you can measure the resistance. 5.6 ohms is 5 amp / 56 ohms is 0.5 amp

I've had 2 of these. Its a .5 amp. I activated it with a phidget I/O card. The micro switch is seperate from the solenoid so no need to go overboard on protection.

Title says wiring diagram for the throttle lever and in the post you're talking about the landing gear lever. Sure it's just a mistake, but you don't want to get clearence pushing full thrust and you realise you're retracting the gear :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Thanks, corrected it. I'm working on a TQ at the same time, hence the throttle on my brain.

Thanks, it does turn out to be 0.5 A. I activated it successfully today with a 28v 1.8A rated power supply.

I managed to destroy the diode while trying to identify it. There was some sort of super thick, hardened heat shrink on the diode. What would be appropriate diodes to put in this circuit?

The only other thing I've found to put on this dedicated 28V power supply are some Cole starter switches. The diodes are easy enough to add so I probably will put them back on.
