Hello to all from Istanbul, Turkey!
I am new on this forum; as a matter of fact, I found this site only minutes ago and decided I had to be here.
I am a mechanical engineering PhD, with specialty in vibrations and acoustics, mainly of ships. How does one whose vocation is ships chooses airplanes as his avocation is anyone's guess but I love airplanes and flying, albeit being deathly scared of it.
I listen to mostly Istanbul LTBA ATC via www.liveatc.net; unfortunately LTBA is down so I am listening to Athens ATC. I always watch how the cockpit is doing as I fly. I can tell if the pilot is a retired airforce pilot or civilian and I enjoy how they approach and land. Unfortunately I can tell if it is a trainee too; which turns my knuckles white.
Good to meet you all! I have to get back to putting together the models I bought in Munich yesterday.
