Hi all,

I have finally picked up the sim building again (after two years... I almost forgot how to open it up!).

Lately I have been assembling the MCDU from OpenCockpits, and I have put a few pictures in my album (http://www.mycockpit.org/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=4751&sortby=f&sorttime=9999&way=asc).

I saw during the past months that there was interest in some sort of tutorial about this thing; as I have been documenting my progress with the camera, I plan to put such a tutorial here in the near future.

Stay tuned...

Hi, me again...

First, thank you all for your nice reactions!

I have just uploaded the tutorial I wrote on assembling the OC MCDU kit, like I promised in the initial message in this thread.

When it has been passed by the moderators, I will update this message with a link to the tutorial.

[edit]
(well, editing a message does not make it visible as new in the thread listing; so I put the links in a followup message to this...)

Spiro,

I order everything from OpenCockpits directly from their website; I think that is the only way to purchase their stuff. All IOCards (USB Expander, Master, Display, etc..) come either as bare card only, as kit with all needed components included, or fully assembled (and tested).
You may have to dig somewhat deeper in the shop's site, as its layout is not always very logical. But in the end, everything is there.
My pedestal pictures are not really useful for taking dimensions. I copied them from Jerome Meriweather's site way back when I just started planning my pit; I think you cannot do that anymore since he reworked his site. I printed them out in what I think is the correct size (more or less) and glued them together for the mockup.
If you want, I could send them to you, it is a ZIP file of about 10 MB; if your mailbox is large enough send me you e-mail address (via PM if you like) and you'll have them in a few days.

Let me know what you want.

Regards,

OK, the tutorial is now available at http://www.mycockpit.org/tutorials/attachment.php?attachmentid=18&d=1257369380, and the drawing mentioned in it can be found here: http://www.mycockpit.org/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=352&act=down.

Hope it is of some help!
