Ok, I notice the IMG tags do not work... Ignore the white spaces where the pictures should be...

First, a picture of my new parts...

Next picture is of my Altitude Select... I decided to machine some adapters out of .75" T6 aluminum to mount my potentiometers to where the synchros used to be... Man, It sure is nice having a small machine shop to make odds and ends when you need them...

Progress...

The bottom Pot is for hundreds of feet and rotates 1:1 with the knob in front. Works flawlessly. The pot has no end points. The top pot will be for thousands of feet. Not quite geared correctly to give me full resolution of the POT, but should be good enough as it is only counting up to 59,000ft...

More progress

Just need to make a shaft adapter for the gear I bored out earlier.

Very impressive work. I used to work in engineering and I do miss having access to lathes and millers, it just shows how much you can do.

Ok, I have a video of my altitude select.. Special thanks to Mike for his great book... I did this however with an Atmel AVR, what can I say? I am just not a PIC man...

Of course much more work needs to be done, but a huge hurdle was overcome.

Wow. Just wow. I always wondered if it could be done, and now I know it can be. Your deck will be beautiful with those analog gauges.

Thanks,
Elliot

You can do it, if you need any help or pointers on where to start, just ask.
