I'm a real newbie in the cockpit building game and am attempting to build a cockpit for my PMDG 747-400x.
I have started putting together the first of many sections by building my FMC.
I am hoping that i can pick the brains of many of you to help get it all together.
Look forward to chatting along with you.
Best regards,
AlexB

Hi Alex,
Welcome to the site, and welcome from the West Coast of Aus :)
Being in Sydney have you managed to get in contact with Matthew Shei (http://www.hyway.com.au/747/747.html)l? He's the premier 747 builder and lives in your town.
Ken.

Thanks for the welcome Ken.
I have e-mailed Matthew to make first contact and will try to get along to see his setup.
I have also e-mail the support guys for this site as I am finding whenever i click on an attachment link in hte File Library are the web site freezes and is non-connectible for at least 30 minutes.
I can then access the web site again but after one attachment opens, the same thing happens again.
Seems wierd, almost like a traffic level issue.
Cheers,
AlexB

Alex. Don't know what to tell you about your issue with the site. But it is not on our end our my in box would be full. :D Now about your sim... May want to re think the PMDG model as, unless someone has done something they are not sharing, there is no way to interface hardware to it. YOu have imbarked on a very dark hobby.. Welcome to the nut house!!

Thanks Bob,
I have been a "pilot" of flight sim since the days of Commodore 64.
I just though it was about time I made the interface a bit more logical.
On the PMDG side, I have noticed, on at least one site, that the builder has disabled the panels in his PMDG model and used Project Magenta which does interface to the hardware.
I might have to do some debugging and see if i can work out the interfacing needed for the PMDG software as the plane is quite nice and seems relatively close to the specs and performance of the real thing.
Of course if I update to the 737 there are a lot more options for building cockpits, but I do love the old Jumbo.
Cheers,
AlexB

You are sure that was with the 747? I do that with the PMDG 737 but up until now no one that I am aware of has been able to do that with the 747. Would be nice to see the link to that site! I know there are a number of people here that would love to see that! This would be great if that where the case! I started FS on the Apple IIc.... Graphics where real bad but hey I was a kid and I was flying!
