Hello everybody,

i have trouble with calibrating my PFC Saab Jetliner Yoke in combination with the PFC throttle console and quadrant.

The calibration of the Throttle-Unit works perfect in the PFC Driver Menü in FS9. (Gas,Prop,Mix....) everything ok.
The problem is the Yoke. The Aileron and Elevator Axis of the yoke are flickering during their movement. That makes flying an aircraft impossible.

I tried it on 2 computers on different COM ports, but the flickering movement still exist.I tried the power supply on different outlets, also no improvement.
The Yoke was build in 2005.Is it possible that the potis are worn and they generate the malfunction? The guy i buyed it from states that he has had no problems with the yoke. I really donīt know what i should do now. Is here somebody who knows about the problem and can help ???

(Sorry,i know my english isnīt very well);)
Kind regards.

I own one of these as well and I get the same response from the elevator axis. It is a bad pot.

Hi Bob,
thank you for your answer.Do you know what kind of Pot. is installed in the Yoke and where i can buy it?Have you rectify it on your own or was it done by the manufacturer?

I have not fixed it yet. I am about to pull the USB controller off it anyway and drive it with my EPIC so when I take it apart I can let you know what the pot is.

Hi ,
I dont know if your ones are the same.My yoke was the Saab desktop one
that was made for AETI by PFC and sold by Avsim a few years back.
The pot is a special slider long and thin.PFC might be the best source.
Question for you both.
How do you find the smoothness of the Elevator. What i mean is from a mechanical point.I find my one is sticky.Even tried different lubricants.
When i try small pitch adjustments i have to apply to much force which results in over correction.I have changed the yoke for amuch lighter one and the problem has been reduced considerably.I would really like to use the originall one.
Bob,would appreciate some pics(internal) of yours to see if they have changed the design since i got mine.
Look forward to your coments.
Les

P.S havea look here for my internals

When I get it apart I will provide pictures. But mine is the floor jet version so it may not be the same inside. I think I have 2 new slide pots that I got from PFC for my desktop model. I even think I know where they are. Mine is not smooth on the elevator at all. Very jittery that is why I think it is the pot. Like I said I am going to use my EPIC to control mine so I may have to change the pots anyway.

Thanks Bob,
As you say its your Floor mounted one that is jittery. How did you find your
Desktop one for Elevator smoothness. My is not jittery but mech stiffer.

I have also the PFC desk top along with the jitter out puts. What I found that mine was not due to dirty pots as I measure them separately all were very smooth but the output board. I replaced the PFC one with a different one (CH) and then all was very smooth. I found that the smooth es operation for the elevator was a clean dry shaft. Since then I used some of the parts to build a floor mounted control yoke.

Thanks Percy,
My desktop one has been like this from the beginning.I tried a dry shaft, lubricating it but to no avail. As i said earlier by replacing the yoke with a much lighter one helped immensley.Im thinking also of using the bits to make another using better bearings not nylon bushings.I also found that putting a bit of upward pressure on the shaft, this stickyness was much less and some sort of better controll over small pitch adjustments
was possible.Much appreciate your reply.

Hello,

i have fixed my problem right now. I just replaced the pots with new 250k pots (Costs: 3€)
Now everything is working fine an the flickering input of the axis during movement disapears completely.
It is really fun to fly with the yoke and i canīt confirm the jittery feeling of the yoke. My yoke is also of the floor mounted type.

Kind regards.

Same problem here with my yoke, so will change my POT too but one question, what do you use for the 250k ? Linear or logaritm? PEC is the brand of mine PFC Yoke POT for aleirons, is the same of yours?
Thanks in advance !

Hi,
i used linear potīs. PEC was also the brand of my potīs. The aileron and elevator potīs are the same.
