Hi All,

I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on using Tablet PC's as your PFD's etc and running the PM for those displays right on those tablets.

Then just network them in like any other computer and therefor reduce the space/mess of having 8 or so seperate computers running behind the scenes.

I am really new at this all and have no idea if this has been talked about before or if it's really even a viable option. Now when I say Tablet PC I'm talking about the new ones that are basicly Laptops with the screens that twist around.

Just thought of the day...
Thanks,

depends on the aircraft i guess.

for the 737 you would be cheaper off with a 19" widescreen tft and an old computer to run pfd and nd on.

i have a 8 inch and a 10 inch tablet here, just checked and the 10 inch is not wide enough in portrait to cover the area of one display in a true scale 737.

furthermore the bezel of the tablet prevents using 2 of them next to eachother because you would see the sides of the tablets in the viewing area of pfd and nd.

So i would say that, for at least the 737, there are better and much cheaper solutions.

Thanks for the input...
It was an idea that I had thought about but I think you are right about it...
I really started looking at it afterwards and realized that the displays wouldn't really be big enough...
