Just like to take this opportunity to say Hi to everyone.
Me and my son are about to embark on the task of building our first home cockpit. My son has been a mad flight simmer since he was twelve years old (he's now twenty two) and he has been badgering me to help build a cockpit for him for many years so i have now finaly given in to his requests :) secretly i have been wanting to do this too for many years but have never had the time so im quite excited really (dont tell him that though). We are starting from the ground up so i am really glad i found this forum.
we are under no illusions that this is not going to be anything but a long haul but it's gonna be fun :)

so hello to everyone again and look forward to chatting to you all and to picking your brains on the forum.

Cheers, Red

There is s lot of info here. Use the search function and read through a lot of the various threads here on just about any topic you can think of and I guarantee you will probably find info you need.

What plane are you going to model?

Hey Red,

Great to have you on board, and I think I can speak for many others that having a partner in crime will be a real benefit as there can be many a time that enthusiasm or inspiration wanes. Having that extra head (not to mention hands) will come in handy too.

As Scott asked, what plane or you going to model?

Ken.

What a great idea. My 9 and 7 year olds love to fly FSX--hopefully, they'll want dad to help them build a cockpit too one day!

Welcome Red,

Your son is same age as mine.
I have been crazy about aviation as long as I can remember (I think that's about as far back as yesterday). Memory aside, my first "flight sim" was a large wooden crate with holes for windows, a fold-out instrument panel from National Geographics and pieces of a broom handle for controls. That lasted until some stupid dog flying a kennel shot me down.

Regards,
Alan

Welcome to Mycockpit Red & Son. Great to see the two of you embarking on this thrilling ride together. Just remember that time and patience will prevail. Doubt anyone gets it 100% right the first time, but I think you will learn what to expect as you get started.

Again, welcome, and if you need anything we are here to help.

Trev.

Thanks for the great welcome everyone :) much appreciated.
We have decided to model our cockpit around the A320. I say "model around" because i know i don't have anywhere near the skills to create an exact replica.
But if i can just get close to replicating the general look and feel of it i will be very pleased.
Going to spend the next couple of months doing my research and design and collecting the basic stuff i know i am going to need, and then the journey begins :)

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Cheers, Red
