Hi all

As part of my cockpit build I would like to add a Nav / Com Radio to my instrument panel and wondering if anyone has any recommendations and what usb radio panels are available.

Cheers

Rhys

Hi,

I am using cpflight hardwares (NAV, COM, XPDR, ADF) with my sim a couple of years now....in my opinion they are one of the best for sim builders, but just my opinion of course

Thanks carlos

Looked at the cpflight hardwares but they require the main MCP737 to work.

I am building a helicopter simpit so I need a generic nav\radio and transponder

Cheers

GoFlight makes wonderful products that are priced well and very reliable.

Hi Rhys,

Take a look at Matt Olieman's review of the CockpitsonicUSA USB avionics on the home page. At around $300USD they look good value and there's nothing to do but plug them in.

I don't have one. But the one I like is the opencockpits plug and play unit. I watched the video, and I like it. I am thinking of using it for a lear45 sim in the future.

If you are on a budget a GF166 from GO Flight can switch from a COM to a NAV and to a Transponder with just one Unit.
You can have it as a P&P unit

or as a kit (no soldering) which allows you to integrate it to your panel(s) the way you want.

Very good customer service and reliable products.
I bought 5 that I integrated on 737 panels .very happy with them.

I'm going to buy two nav radios from them come March. I might even swing the ADF head.

If you have the original 727 radio heads you can get them alive (digital display of course)
with a GF remote kit. Did 2 NAV 1COM 1 ADF 1TRX (still missing knobs and display covers)
The NAV can switch from NAV1 to NAV2 and same for COM

As far as I know Elite works only with the Elite software.

Thanks guys

lots of choices here, I am on a budget so the goflight and opencockpit seem to be good deals.
I saw a new site called VR Reality insight that do an Instrument RadioStack Panel which looks pretty cool, although the price is $659.387 New Zealand dollars http://http://www.vrinsight.com/ but I guess Its not a bad price considering what it does.

Mine are all Gables analog heads. I don't have the patients to try and convert them.

You can use their 'blackbox' instead of the mcp.

the blackbox costs only 95 euros.

Of course if you really want value for money and already run the Opencockpits interface, a Boeing COMM radio in kit form will set you back just 84 Euro ($106USD). Some assembly required of course (in fact complete assembly required!) plus software configuring, but if your handy it's well worth it.
