IYO, Which are the most realistic panels for the a320 readily available for the general public?

I'm looking for the proper backlighting -- yellowish color -- not the pumpkin orange. I will back light myself if necessary. Therefore, FDS seems to be out from what I see.

I've seen cockpitsonic stuff -- does anybody know if its better to buy the full overhead or the individual panels? Which is the most realistic choice?

Best Wishes
Aqua

Aqua,
Check out Phil Lambert's (phil744) posts. He is making overhead panels for Matt. I bought some map panel light from him. If it was any indication damn the overhead panel must be awesome.

He doesn't seem to be producing these panels for everyone, does he?

Have you asked?. I didnt know Phil from a bar of soap. I just asked him and he was kind enough to say "yes"... the worst he can say no then you still have other options anyway.

If you do PM Phil don't be surprised if you don't hear from him for a couple of days - he's driving over to Lelystad with Matt's panel for the rest of us to admire... 8)
Cheers

Thanks..... For the more mundane commercial choices, which would you go for in terms of realism? The FDS overhead doesn't seem to have the correct lighting going on -- it lacks those square LED outlines around the buttons. Cockpitsonic?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but also the Phil's panels are missing the square leds around the switches...

Can you even get those with FDS panels -- the square lighting around the switches?

Phil's panels have the switch perimeter lighting (this is what I call the square outline) on them. The last two days I have been with the overhead he made for Matt a total of 13 hours so apart from Phil I am the next best person to know :D

Great worksmanship, everyone at FSWeekend was very impressed and we even had some companies come by and admire the overhead; checking out the backlighting with flashlights and knobs. Much better than some of the commercially available panels on display at various booths.

some shots of those will be appreciated, as the shoots i've seen until now do not show them...

No other panel has that lighting on the market?

You can see the perimeter lighting in the pictures on the first page of the thread:
http://www.mycockpit.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13878

The HYD/ELEC, FIRE and AIR panels in the central column of Matt's overhead were the last to be made and didn't have the perimeter lighting yet. I'm not sure which pictures you have seen but I can assure you the panels are made to have perimeter lighting.

I'm not sure (not a Bus fan) but FDS was mentioned earlier and although the photo isn't the best as far as I can see there is no perimeter lighting:

Keep in mind this is the A320 as FDS doesn't have a 340 overhead on their site.

Mycockpit?

Here is a real life A340 overhead.

Phil has the reading and center (pedestal) lights on the overhead as well. At least the holes for them :D

Here is a picture of another real overhead portion.

Sorry about bombarding this thread with posts but I had posted pictures of the JAR certified Swiss Air A340 simulator at Zurich Kloten airport in another thread:

I have the 9-10am slot on Saturday 8th of November but I think I will have to pass thanks to the Dutch police. I'm just hoping I still have enough money on me to pay for the rental and get out of the country. :((
