Good day,
As planning comes to a close (as far as that ever could be possible.) in terms of starting to purchase and start building. Since the vast amount of webpages and suppliers eye candying you with pictures and promises, what better place to ask then here. So here is my question what are you using? and or is your fav?

MCP

CDU

All coms

Overhead

MIP,

I think this would be a great way for any new builder to take a look at and see what people are using and whats around with first hand experiences.

I thank you all for your time

MCP = Combination of home built and the Goflight one.

CDU = There isn't really one in a BAe 146-200. Will install a "custom one" in MY plane eventually ;).

All coms = Four Goflight VRP -166's set up as 1 for comm 1+2 (will eventually be two separate radios), one each for nav 1+2, and one for NDB. For default ATC, I use the Goflight ATC module. For actual online voice comms, I utilize Teamspeak on a separate computer with PTT on CH yoke.

Overhead = All home built panels. Interfacing via a Hagstrom KE-72 keyboard emulator and Phidgets, and utilizing FSUIPC to get stuff to offsets or other computers.

MIP = Glass cockpit. Combination of CRT and LCD monitors behind home built wood facings. Software is Ellie Avionics, my own VB6 code (minor so far), SA-WXR, and FSXpand.

Hope that helps.

Best,

welcome to the world of cockpit building.......
first i think the answer depends on your software/aircraft approach.
my preference is the CPFlight MCP (works with just about anything inc. LVLD,PMDG and PM).
i use the Flight Illusion Comm/Nav/ADF (ADF2) Radios (but they don't make a transponder). these are excellent and since i bought them i have never had any issues with them. i did have a small problem with one radio switch, but mark @ F/I sorted it by return. i also have a CPFlight Transponder and ADF (ADF1). again excellent (and paolo is one of the nicest guys in the support business). so both company's highly recommended.
cdu, at the moment, there's only one to choose from - engravity, unless you want to build your own. but, i know there is a 'serious contender' in development. could be worth waiting a while on that one :o)
MIP..... well everybody has their favourite. go to lelystad and have a look for yourself.
hope to see you there........
best regards and good luck..... regards from wales .... ian
