I would like to look at some options for building comm and nav radios, but seem tonot find any information. Anyone know of any options? I know where to get the panels, but what type of card would one use? Is a keyboard emulator type workable? Thanks in advance.

The RMK 166 boards are available from goflight again. These are perfect for making nav and comm radios.

And try FDT or Open Cockpits
FDT has a support forum here at IFSBI
Open cockpit.com has it's own

Very nice dnoise!
Can you give us more info on them? I am just about ready to work on my radios also.

You can also use Phidgets. They work well for this kind of application.

How much did the electronics cost?
Did you have any problems getting everything to interface properly?
Would you use the same electronics again?
How was your overall experience with this companies products?
Do you have web addresses for the stores you got your electronics from?

Too many questions?
THANKS!

How much did the electronics cost?

IOcards from opn cockpits are the cheapest and most powerfull solution around. All in all the cards cost me around 200-250 euros. You can go cheaper if you buy the cards as a kit and solder them yourself.

www.opencockpits.com. Its a spanish non profit project. The website is in english too, just click on the flag. Support is excellent, so is their forum

Did you have any problems getting everything to interface properly?

The IOcards software is not as userfriendly as phidgets or flightdeck technology. but if i can do it, everyone can.
2 ways to configure them:
iocards.exe - which i used.
SIOC - wich is an event orientated langue to configure them. No experience with this.

Would you use the same electronics again?

for displays...yes....

How was your overall experience with this companies products?

very very very positive.

Do you have web addresses for the stores you got your electronics from?

all cards and displays came from www.opencockpits.com
the dual concentric rotaries came from goflight and are ALPS

Too many questions?

nahhhh...thats what im here for....
