Hi all,
I've taken a break from things for a little while because of my frustration with my lack of knowledge on aviation in general (my flying is embarassing too) & instead turned to searching out some training material.
On that search I bumped into this book that has been digitised into a PDF file(free download for private non commercial use).

I put it here in case anyone feels like browsing this book for any reason & I am not suggesting anybody but me really needs it.
I am about to start reading this along with the legendary "Stick & Rudder" by Wolfgang Langewiesche.
As well as those I have bought three books by Assen Jordanoff & they are in the mail right now & should be here in a couple of weeks.
Cheers
Gerry

I read this book over & over & almost memorized it when I was only 11-12 years old. Thirty or so years later, I soloed in less than 8 hours & got my pilot license in 37 hours. I attribute this to that particular book as I felt totally prepared even on my very first flight. This should be compulsory reading for any would be pilot.

You may also be interested in this one: http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aircraft/airplane_handbook/

It appears to be an updated version of the book I used 'way back when... (I had money and no children).

edit: Nope, THIS was the one I used: http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aviation/pilot_handbook/

This one's not bad either: http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aviation/instrument_flying_handbook/

Mike,

I remember you had a post on your website about a book you found at the library. The title is "Black Magic and Gremlins: Analog Flight Simulations at NASA". I found it on Nasa's website in PDF format. It can be downloaded here:

http://www.dfrc.nasa.gov/History/Publications/PDF/Black_Magic.pdf

It is a bit off the topic of learning to fly books, but I wanted to share it anyway.
