Hey Guys, so about the rotary switches, what sort should I be using for the level d 767 start switches, Pax seatbelts, Apu etc? Can I use a standard rotary switch you can buy at Tandy electronics and use that? Im guessing when you turn the knob you won't feel the click sensation like the real aircraft knob but the rotary switch would still activate the cockpit function in the sim correct? I have seen start knobs in some homebuilt sims (737) that automatically flick back to off after start ( just like the real 737). They must be special rotary switches right? I will soon have a limited setup where I can test these theories myself but I am just researching as musch as possible first. Thanks again in advance for any replies.:p

The ones that hold their position until after start are magnetically held switches using an electromagnet.

Some on older Boeings are solenoid held which is very similar.

You can sometimes find these on e-Bay. Someone posted a link for an e-Bay seller selling rotary encoders. I also found he had some of the same magnetic switches in my AP head.
