As far as I read from Bulfer's 737 Cockpit Companion, it should be armed - and the horn should sound - simply when a/c on ground and either throttle moved forward, regardless if A/T has been switched on or not (in fact, during the pre-flight tests, A/T is not expected to be switched on ...).

For the time being, I can hear it played by PMSounds only if A/T is on.

You have some kind of an issue there, because if your Aircraft is on the ground and you have a TO COnfig error (flaps/parking brake) etc, Movement of Throttle #1 through 60-70%N1 will cause the to config warning sound to annunciate.

I hear the horn with or without A/T if I apply full (or almost full) power on take-off without having some degrees of flaps. As soon as any flaps are deployed, the horn stops.

However, if I do another take-off without resetting simulator, the horn sounds when I apply full power even if the flaps are deployed and stays on until I'm off the ground. Don't know if this is what it should be doing or not.

I wish there was a way to also implement the warning if the trim is not in a user-defined band that is acceptable for T/O trim configuration.

Technically, you could Eric.

You could edit PMsounds to trigger the sound for any function you would like. (Don't ask me how though) I have never done it. But if it were me, I would use PMSYStems to sound an actual horn in the cockpit and trigger it using a phidgets output card. for any condition you would like.

Sorry, folks, I realize now that I had better underlined that the "misplaced" behavior is referred to the T/O Warning Test.

That is when - during the pre-flight checks - throttles are deliberately moved forward, with P/B on, engines off and A/T off, just to check that the T/O Warning Horn is audible and functional for the takeoff that will follow.

That specific alert condition seems to be missing at the moment, in fact PM Sounds does not play the ntowarn.wav file ...

On the contrary, upon takeoff (and when A/T is armed) it does behave correctly and PMSounds does its job.

It's the test event that is failing now.

Maybe a specific new PM Sound event can be programmed, tied to the same "noise", that can be played when Throttle1 value passes a given value and P/B is on, no matter what state is A/T.

Any suggestion welcome from/for the DIY simmers !

I get that horn sound if my Trim is not set right for T/O, but I haven't done anything to make it work etc. It just works from standard install. At first I didn't know what was happening, because I had A/B set to RTO and the flaps set. I found out then it was the trim setting that was causing it to sound. This is for Boeing package from PM which one are you using Tom ?

There is already such a thing, Tom.

Have a look at the PMSounds config files.

Not too sure, but it's probably in the .ini file.

I once found the specifiic values that PMSounds uses when it comes to this warning for the so-called (on the 737) "green band".

It expresses a value in scale of FS axis for the elevator trim.

P.S. I didn't resist and had to simply downloaded and install PMSounds, right now: it's there, in the PMSounds.ini, where you read:

TrimMin=-4800
TrimMax= 4800
// Trim Range for TakeOff Config Warning, disabled if either is = 0
// Default Min -4800 Max 4800

p.p.s. These values are not totally consistent with the green band, but that's another story ... and I guess it's found in another thread somewhere around here !

Thanks guys! I did read in another thread that there is a way to eventually figure out how to have the green band area line with what's shown in PM.

However, Im using PMRJ and Im not so sure if it's all going to visually line up, but Ive learned that the best trim setup for take off in the LJ45 in PMRJ is 3 or so.

Just so no one gets confused, my last name AND my log in name here is 'Tomlin' (not Tom), but most folks here call me Eric per my signature :-)

It's okay- just didnt want anyone to get confused here! :-)

No probs! By the way Padraig,

What part of Ireland are you in? I spend quite a bit of time in Ennis and a night in Tralee down in Kerry. Great times those were!
