Finally got some pics uploaded of the Convair 580 project.

The shell, which is very nice , was built by a friend who is a much better carpenter than I am.
It is basically just waiting for the lexan windows and the controls/mip etc which I am building ,to be installed.

For outside visuals, we are planning 3 projectors (rear projection).

More to come on this project as it develops in the next few weeks.

Yes,, the shell is very nice. Thanks to Ivar Hestness for his tutorial on how to cover a shell with plywood.

When I asked my buddy Marlon to build the shell he asked me how it is done. I just emailed him Ivars tutorial and away he went.

After doing some measurements when it was complete,, he actually came within inches of replicating the real cockpit !

I'm afraid that if I tackled a shell like that,, it would wind up looking like the cardboard box submarine I once built as a kid !

I'm really looking forward to getting some of the controls and the mip inside and adding the outside paint/stripes, and windows etc.

Ve4anc ,who is also a member here, will soon start the massive job of wiring the overhead and FDT cards. We also plan on getting a large percentage of the systems operational, without the help of PMsystems or similar software. It will be a big job to say the least.

Hey Spitfire.. IT can be done! Not easy but doable. What you need is a interface that you can program.. Like Open Cockpit or Epic. I know with EPIC there was a 737 cockpit long before PMSystems that was fully functional. I hear tell the same thing is possible with Open Cockpits SIOC code as well.
