Hi,

Getting to grips with with the CDU but I'm having problems!
I have the Flight Plan folder on my FS pc shared as fsplans as per the instructions but when I go on the Load/Save FLPN page I can see a folder showing as \\fspc\fs9 (file://\\fspc\fs9) which is my main FS Pc FS2004 folder, also shared. When I click the Load FS key it just keeps loading a default Panc flight and when I key the file name both with or without the .pln extension nothing happens

Anyone any ideas where I am going wrong?
Cheers
Mike

There is no problem. You need jsut to share the folders correct, both!

Ok - what are we doing wrong?
I have my flight plan folder shared as fsplans and fs shared... Not sure what else I need to share (Netdir is shared too and is ok)..

Thanks
Mike

Sorry, I don't know. It's just the sharing you are doing wrong. You need to give read / write access to all users.
The special things are ever depending of your system, how secure you set your OS.

Ok thanks Thomas, think I will delete and re-share to see if it works then.

It's just because everyone thinks it has to do with PM software but actually it's only depending on the OS / security / sharing.
I don't have any problems by using Vista 32 / WIN XP Pro and WIN 2000 Pro in my Network for FS & PM. It depends only on the way you setup your OS and then the Network, nothing more.

Hello,

I´ve also no problems here to load FSPlans to the CDU. I use Vista32 and XP SP2 on my different PC´s.

One thing I do is to map the shared Folder FSPLANS to the CDU computer, so the folder reconnects at every time i start the computer.

Hi Mike,

I have got a lot of trouble with a network between XP and Vista.
have you run pmfilecheck to see if everything is working fine?
sometimes FSPLANS is visible in the network but CDU can't access flightplans.
You must adjust security of the directory and add user like guest with permissions.
Regards

Patrick

Hi,

Have deleted and reshared but no luck so far...
Both PCs are running XP SP2 - the main FS pc has the flightplan folder shared as fsplans and for the user that connects to it has full authority.
When I go to load a fs flightplan the path to the main fs directory is showing in the cdu (\\fspc\fs9) and a message shows 'SHARE AS FSPLANS'.

Is there a setting somewhere to say where it looks for the plans?
Cheers

Mike

Before to be loaded in the cdu, flight plan must be saved in fs.
are you using the usual directory for flight plan in fs9 (my documents\flight simulator files\...)?
what is the result of pmfilecheck tool?

Hi,

I am using MCDU (airbus CDU), and I am not able either to load FS Plans. Everything done as stated in the manual (sharing folder as FSPLANS, etc.).

When I try to load an FS Plan (and I have many in the FS folder) I can only load the last (and only file) saved in the FSPLANS folder by the CDU. When I save a Flight plan created with the CDU as a FS FPLN, it creates a file such as "1pmflight001.PLN". If I save another one, it creates names increasing number "1pmflight002, 3, etc..PLN", BUT it deletes the previous one. This is, I can only load FS Plans created by the CDU, and only the latest one, as the other get deleted.
Needless to say, I cannot load the files created by FS9.

Any clue?.....

This is getting really frustrating!

I've run file check on the pc that has GC & MCP installed - no errors reported, knows all about fsplans on the main fs pc etc.

On the CDU pc I have a drive mapped and can see the plans on the main fs pc but still the cdu does not know about this share - keeps mentioning the fs9 folder and wont load any other plans...

Any ideas?

But did you run pmFileCheck on CDU PC?

But did you run pmFileCheck on CDU PC?

Hi,

Yep - all worked ok - no error messages and it knew about fsplans but still nothing in cdu...

Cheers

Just copy the pmFileCheck.txt file from the CDU PC to see what is in.

All looks ok - but every time I try load a flight plan (I am entering EGNM-EGLL or EGNM-EGLL.PLN on the cdu then clicking LOAD FS key it keeps loading the last flight in the folder (as reported in the file check program)...
Most bizarre!

Most bizarre!

But that means the sharing works now OK!
For the reason that you cannot load other files than the latest please check the Documentation, I think page 38 or so.

Thomas - thank you for your patience and help!

It has all become clear! The PM CDU will only ever load the latest flightplan, I was thinking it would be like the PMDG CDU and you could specify the file name and it would load it

Oh well it's a learning process.

Good news then :
GC works and is correctly laid out
CDU works
MCP works

Just need to get my h/w to interact with the s/w:wink:
Will worry about PMSystems later.

Thanks again
Mike

If you need to load and save the FS Plans I would do following.
- load latest plan from FS
- save as Company route or SBP
- delete latest Plan file in FSPlans folder
So the latest for the next load is the one before and you have your FS Plans saved in CDU correct.
