What a day i have had!!

Got a phone call from home today at lunch time saying "erm, Phil, several parcel's have turned up and you have to go to the sorting office to pick up two more"

I wonder what these could be???

So I decided to sod work, Gave an excuse of "A bird has flown into the house and my mother has Ornithophobia (best I could think of:roll:) and had to go home quickly"

So rushed to the sorting office to pay the VAT and sign for my parcel's then gathered my odd looking yet misterious packages and retired to the garage.

I was like a kid on Christmas day, 767 parts galore!!!!!

Then I went back to work only to find another box on my desk! Simboards had landed aswell but before i could open it I got a phone call from the Landlord saying I will be able to move into my new workshop (new Sim home) hopefully in 2 weeks!!!

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:p:p:p:p

And here is my new collection, 767 Sim??? have I decided yet???, here we go!!!

Nice one, ive been reading the thread about the builders meet, problem is that i feel like an outsider because i dont yet have a sim, however i have a pile of parts so its official.

However it does sound good to me but i might be away on that date, let me check

Phil

P.s. I give you all one guess what i will be doing over the weekend?

Nice surprise Phil. Did you buy these from ebay or did you get yourself a job at Heathrow and arm yourself with a crowbar?

You want to build a sim, you've got some parts, you've got a plan - sounds like a sim builder to me!

Very nice looking delivery you've had there!

I still have one outstanding issue though..........

747 or 767 ??????? ARGHHHHH!!!!

Here is a mad question.. has anyone actually tried to build two large sims at the same time?????

I think, the last one who tried it ended in a simple white room with nice white and soft wallpapers ...

I think you're right :( :( It was a sad day when we lost one of our own to the "white" room.

Phil, I've got to give you credit, to even bring it up, and saying it out loud...... WOW, that takes guts..... May be you CAN do it :) :) :)

Hehe, im allready in that nice small well padded room, difference is, ive brought all my parts with me!!

The problem I have is that I WANT A 747-400 but i love the 767 layout. but the 747 is simple in comparison to the 767 and because this will be my first sim i want to keep it as simple as possable so 747 it is.

However you must keep in mind that i will be making all the panels myself because i have the equipment to do it, so i might put the priority on the 747 but build the 767 at my leasure.

(just need bigger said white padded room);)

Haha, hope we meet there then. The white room sounds like a cosy place to build a sim. Good background for a visual system:D

Good luck to you Phil with all those nice parts. Looking forward to updates when you start building:)

Well here is the "said" white room, even has bars on the window, quite fitting really. after many months of messing around i now have my 7 X 4 meter box, looks big enough for a sim (or 2?) but keep in mind i have to get a workshop in here so it will soon look full, I can finally start;) safe for 2 years!!!

I will have to do a blog....

Looking good Phil! Are you just renting a space in an old warehouse?

phil744
03-04-2008, 09:03 PM
Basically yeah, a good friend has started a moulding company and he has no use for the offices, so i pay the equivellent floor space in rent and keep the offices and i have an option once the sim is complete to move it onto a floor above the offices, we were measuring it out today and it will give me a projector throw of 18meters!!!

So is that how you got those excellent knobs? :)

phil744
03-04-2008, 09:10 PM
haha, no those knobs are 100% casted but i have a couple of quotes for tooling, might sound daft but its cheeper to soft tool for knobs, switches and annunciators rather than just buying them and i have free time on several moulding machines and fully qualified to use them so you never know...

Phil,

Looks like you wont be struggling for power looking at the power strips on the wall ;)

Good luck with it and keep us informed!

great space you have for the sim there- and with the warehouse attached- maybe thats an excuse to build a motion platform!

Hehehe, motion platform, ive allready put my name on the 300amp consumer unit outside!!!!

Dont think my landlord will be too impressed when i nick the hydraulic system of one of his moulding machines;)

I'd feel I was missing something (like my airplane!) if I built it off-site away from my home.

Nice space you have there though.:)
