Hi,

Does anyone know of a good tutorial for using SIDS and STARS??

Also is it possible to listen to the ATIS at the destination airport prior to approach? I have tried but no luck, so maybe doing something wrong. Currently not flying online.

Many Thanks

Rob

Hi Rob,

There are good SID and STAR tutorials in most episodes of 'PC Pilot' magazine (don't know if it's available in Canada?).

Or, if you want to ask any questions around here, go ahead, I'm pretty well versed with Procedures, and there are many others here with more knowledge!

As for ATIS - the ATC built into FS only allows you to tune ATIS when you're within 30nm of the airport which is far from realistic. If you use Radar Contact, I think you can tune from about 90nm out ..... if you fly on-line, it wil be more realistic again, and you can tune the ATIS freq as soon as it becomes available in Squawkbox, IVap, etc.

Cheers,

If you have any specific questions, please post.

Most are very straightforward and the info you need to fly the procedure is right on the chart.

Pretty much a roadmap in the sky to get you down to the airport (or up and away from it), but unlike a road roadmap, it has instructions to boot!

Just the job Radar. Great tutorials for SIDS/STARS. Much better watching a video than reading about it. Thanks a lot.
