Hi All,

I have spent some time trying to update the Wiki article on Flight Simulator to include a reasonable level of detail on our hobby. You can find the full article at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_simulator

I only updated, then re-wrote largely the 'home Cockpit' bit.

Its not easy to update, not least as you must not be remotely commercial in what you write and everything has to be encyclopedic in tone. One of the limits to what I can do is that I don't have photo's of a really decent home simulator. My own efforts are far too limited, although I did add a shot of some generic sim hardware. I know some of the shots in the gallery are just what I see when I think of a home sim, but I wont add them as obviously they are not mine and I dont have permission to use.

So, if you own a modern airliner sim (there is a more GA style cockpit photo near the top already) or a motion platform sim and want to upload a picture to enhance the article I think it needs it. Also if anyone has time to expand on the article, or its linked 'Simpits' one (which I have not updated) please feel free, I am by no means the authority on sims, far from it :D

You are more than welcome to copy/link any picture from my gallery and add it there if you'd like. Not the slickest of pits.... not an exact scale replica...... but it suits my needs and is designed with "affordable" and "flexible" in mind.

Any of these would be fine:

Or any other one you liked.

best,

Ok, having looked further into this, wiki are very concerned about copyright issues. As I didn't take the photo's I need you to confirm that you release them completely under the GNU Free Documentation License or they are likely to get deleted. Unfortunately I am not allowed to upload pics which are only released for use on wikipedia, they have to be generally released.

The only other way is for you to upload and add them to the article yourself which wont break any rules on copyright :) If you can confirm this is ok I will refer wiki back to this thread as confirmation that I have right to use.

Legal hoops, dont you just love them.

Cheers All :)

Wiki's like our projects are never finished, however after a considerable amount of hoop jumping I have 3 of the images uploaded which I think helps the article greatly.

Got to go cook now, but if anyone is feeling really creative the whole article needs a revamp :D
