Anyone having a battle with their differential brakes and park brake?

Mine dont seem to like each other. After releasing park brake the differential brakes sign is up on screen and i need to tap on both my foot brakes to get the sign off. other funny stuff happens too.

I am aware that the differential brakes do release the park brake solenoid on the actual aircraft. All my brakes are configured with fsuipc-All flightsim brake assignments have been deleted.

That happened to me once. I deleted the axis assignments in fsuipc and redid them. that fixed it for me.
I certainly did not know about the differential brakes releasing the handbrake. Does this happen in small aircraft also? does the parking brake jump in on its own then, when you hit the differential brakes?

Not in any small aircraft I've flown.

Just go into your FS assignment page for the pedals and re-adjust the sensitivity, or reassign in FSUIPC and it will make it much better for you.

In fact, when I did it in FSUIPC, it made the two brakes more equal, whereas before the right brake was stronger than the left.

The Twin Otter that used to transport us to work every week had this style of release. To set the parking brake the pilot would press both differential brakes and twist the handle to lock, and just the opposite to release, with a noticeable "pop." In the Piper Navajo that we now fly, I beleive it is that way as well, but have not seen the pilot use the parking brake yet. I flew a PA-12 from the front seat on Friday, it did not have a parking brake, but did have a spruce branch caught in the landing gear stut from my instructors impromptu low-altitude, low-speed tree topping demonstration, took everything I had not to pull up as the tree was getting bigger, brings a new definition to the term "Alaskan Bush Flying." One takeoff, three landings (bounces), not bad for a windy day and a noob on the stick.

eric, could you go into more depth with that fsuipc one?

you are right, my right brake needs to be pushed down further for it to be applied...but i think it might be my pot playing up.

i dont have any fs assignments...so i thought that sensitivities would not apply . is this right?

Actually fsuipc doesn't have so called Sensitivity, but it has a response curve (slope) that you can adjust. It basically changes the fast or slow response you get from the pot. (delays the action). That might help. You will find that under the Axis calibration screen in UIPC

Thanks trevor i realise this. When i release the park brake hardware, the park brake indicator dissapears from the bottom left of the fs screen to leave the differential indicator remaining. I then have to tap both diff brakes to get the red indicator to dissapear. Then i can start to roll.

Strange eh?

Might download latest fsuipc and see what happens.

I have a similar problem, it is originating through my fsuipc though. I am sure if I spend some time in the calibration screen I will be able to get it solved.

Ares,

Im not really sure what else to tell ya, Trevor pretty much hit it on the nail- the process that I went thru. Maybe Mr. Pete Dowson can comment?
