    Question on EmulatorTextLCD

In anticipation of my TextLCD 8/8/8 showing up today I teried to do some testing using the TextLCD emulator. I just could not sem to get the hang of this.

I set up the assignment in the fs2phidgets program so that row 1 was to show the radio frequency of the Com1 radio. I checked in the FS assignments pop-up and the radio assignemt looked correct.

Also later tried it for the compass dircetion.

In the lowere screen that shows the assignments the values seemed to appear correctly. But on the little window that showed the "fake" TextLCD screen instead of digits showing up....... the display has a series of what looked like heiroglyphs or the characters from the "dingbats" type fonts.

Do the Phidgets emulators require a specific font be installed on a machine? If so .... what one.

If it is not that that I am experienceing..... what am I doing wrong?

    best,

    ............john

No special fonts. Works with regular ASCII characters.

What offset were you using ?

    John,

    Just checked font for graphic.
I had set this to TechnicBold
    Hope this info helps.

In version 4.0 the dummy TextLCD font will be Arial.

If you prefer a pre-release of 4.0 shoot me an email

    Regards,
    Alan.

    John and Romek,

Send me an email at alan@coconutair.com
    I will send you font.

The techb__.ttf file will go into your /Windows/Fonts folder.
and we can see if that helps.

    Regards,
    Alan.

    Alan,

THANKS! Adding the font file into Windows Font directory made the TextLCDemulator display work correctly. Or it was the new version . Did both at the same time.

Will be testing stuff over the next few days.... let you know if anything "weird" pops up.

    best,
