    Auto radio tuning?

    Hi there,

Odd - but obvious to many I'm sure

Why are my nav radios tuning themselves automatically? In the
good old days of no PM and just PMDG I had to do everything
myself, but now my nav radios tune magically to my next
    waypoint.

Can someone point me in the right direction here (no pun
intended)? When I get myself a hardware radio panel I'd like
    to twiddle the knobs myself!

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Re: Auto radio tuning?

You can turn the auto tune off.. and then you can toggle the "Auto Tune
    Navs"

    Best Regards
    Tom Stian Bjerk

    In the CDU:

    Press Menu twice->Settings

    Hi Paul,

Go to the menu of your CDU and push twice then select SETTINGS and change
AUTO TUNE NAVS in OFF. That's all
    Have nice flights

    The thing is:
most modern planes do have autotuning!
All the pilot is required to do is to check if autotune did it's job
    correctly or not.
I agree that twiddling the knobs is a nice tactile addition to authenticity,

    but technology moves on...

    Re: Auto radio tuning?

    Hi from sunny Athens,

before 3 weeks i had the opportunity to be in a real 737-400, parked in the
Apron of LGAV, for about 3-4 hours. We made a video for the 4th Greek
Flightsimmers meeting and i tryed to get any information i could in this
    time.

About Autotune function, the true is that is something like customer's
    choice.
Olympic's aircrafts they have a 3rd NAV radio, not operational from crew,
    for
autotune nav, needed for IRS check position.

Some other aircrafts, Olympic has from rental, they don't have the 3rd NAV,
    so
they have the Auto/Manual option and the crew decides how to use it. So if
there is not NAV tuned, the a/c has only IRS position and not confirmed
    with
    NAVs.

    Regards

    Auto radio tuning?

    Hi Paul,

why don´t you switch auto tune off on the CDU?
You can find it here: Index -> settings. Here it´s the LSK2 if I remember
    correctly.

    Auto radio tuning?

    Thanks everybody!

I saw that the 747's CDU tunes the radios, but I didn't know
the 737NG could do the same.

Does this mean that when I add hardware radios (I have a
CPFlight MCP, so I might go for their radios as well) they'll
be able to tune themselves from the PM CDU software? I like
the idea of having a choice - leaving me to tune the comms
    radio and drink coffee.

    Auto radio tuning?

    Hi Paul,

can´t tell for sure whether their radios have a push button for manual / auto
tune, since I built my own with FSBus.

But in principle it should work as the system is the same:
reading and writing to FS Offsets.

It´s alot of fun having the choise.

BTW the autotune is on CDU -> Menu -> maintenance -> settings -> LSK2

    Best rgds

    Peter
