    Use of PTT on Joystick

I have a problem using the PTT button on my joystick, not really a fault but how do other people work it.
Difficulty is that slightest touch on the joystick trips the autopilot out. I have 15% null zones in the joystick calibration but that does not affect the joystick sensitivity, it is like a hair trigger.
On the real aircraft there is a detent which partialy locks the stick when the autopilot is engaged. It is necessary to override this detent when it intended to cancel the autopilot by moving the stick. There is also the cancel button of course.
When talking to controllers online I am continually reselecting autopilot.
I am not interested in building two new joystick controls with the detent included, I think my best solution would be to disable the "cancel autopilot" function on moving the stick. I can always cancel with either the separate button or the FCU.
Is this possible or what do other pilots do?

Re: Use of PTT on Joystick

Have you set your joystick calibration in windows controllers, FS, FSUIPC or the FMGS config? I'm not sure exactly which joystick raw values JH suite reads (most probably just the ones coming from the windows) but FMGS config should always work. Make sure to set a null zone for all axis the joystick affects when moved.

    Hi Barry,

I'll try to add an option for a larger break out zone before AP disengagement.

    Best regards

Re: Use of PTT on Joystick

I set up joysticks in Windows and then in FMGS. FSUIPC is not in the loop.
Although I put in null zones in all axes this does not affect the breakout for the autopilot disconnect.
JL I think what you are proposing will give us what we need. I am sure others must have tripped over the problem

Still surprised no-one else has commented on this problem. My setup is conventional in that I use a Logitech Attack 3 Joystick plugged into the USB of the Flight sim PC.
JL in the interim awaiting a null zone is there any way I can delete the autopilot cancel function when the stick is moved?

48.1 will include that, I just implemented it. It will be accessible with the new options user interface on the FMGS server APP.

JL many thanks again for quickly picking up a problem. I wonder what exciting developments there will be in the options user interface!

I don't think exciting is the correct term... Though the already is the options interface in b48...
