    My JetMax Experience

If anyone is curious about my experience with the FDS/JetMax 737 single seater, I have finished the write up.

    Re: My JetMax Experience

    Thanks for the informative review!

I have an FDS A320 MIP on the way, and also hope to evaluate it when I receive it.

The post on the platform construction was helpful. Cheers.

    Re: My JetMax Experience

Nice write up.. I am currently buying the different Jetmax components (TQ - got, CDU - got MCP+EFIS - next on list) before plunging for the final hit on Jetmax K.

What I can't decide on is which avionics software to get and I was disappointed to find that the software doesn't come with the Jetmax solution price... and that its going to be another $999 to $1299 that I hadn't accounted for.

You mention you use PS737. Is this cheaper than Sim-Avionics? I would like to avoid another $999 for software if its at all possible but I suspect they are all of a similar price point.. Do they offer trial periods to test and see what they are like?

I would be interested in peoples view on which avionics software I should go for...

    Thanks

    Re: My JetMax Experience

Yes, the avionics suite is separate and added cost. I will make a note of this in the write up.

There a few options out there, but only two big ones were on my radar: Sim-Avionics or ProSim737.

Sim-Avionics is developed by Mark Hastings who works directly with FDS and therefore has quick set-up features for their products, but appears to lack native support for quite a few other manufacturers. If you are full FDS, this is a no-brainer for ease and support. Here is their feature page listing hardware compatability: http://www.sim-avionics.com/features.html#page=page-1 On a side-note, Sim-A does support the 777 cockpit as well.

Personally, I chose ProSim737 as it supports a wider array of 737 cockpit sim products such as CPFlight, GoFlight, FDS/JetMax, Flight Illusion, CockpitSonic, OpenCockpits, Sismo, SimWorld, VRInsight, RevSim, FlyEngravity, etc. and most of them it does so natively. As I have quite a varied selection based on my desires, such as the complete CPFlight pedestal and overhead, the better choice was ProSim737. You can demo it for free. However, it will only run for 30 minutes, then you have to restart it (until purchased). The entire avionics suite was 600 Euro and the matching flight model was 50 Euro. The ProSim737 supported devices are here: http://prosim-ar.com/hardware/

Some have managed to hack the PMDG NGX to work with the jet max.

Interesting. Was this with networked Pcs as I understood you couldn't separate the PMDG avionics from the SIM pc?

do you have a link to the website I can look at

I would ask in the FDS forum -- there were a few users running it off a single computer.
