Hi from Milwaukee - Lockheed T-33 Project

I found your site, and I'm still trying to digest everything in it.

A local car dealership has a Convair C-131 nose section in their parking lot for sale. I suddenly got the bright idea of turning it into a flight simulator (I've got plenty of real-world flight experience, with an A&P cert., but zero simulator-building experience). It's virtually fully-in-tact, with seats, yokes, and instruments.

Although I haven't talked to the dealer, my brother stopped by, and they told him that it's got a pricetag of $15,000.

That seemed way out of line. Does anyone have thoughts on such a $15,000 price tag for a dusty, but fairly complete, Convair C-131 nose section? Thanks in advance.

That price doesnt actually sound out of line to me (I could be wrong) but if it has everything in it ie... gauges, yokes, seats, rudder peadals and its in good shape that might be an ok price but of course I would try to get it cheaper.

If I had the money, I'd offer them 10k and meet in the middle. That would be a huge score to build a pit from.

    Re: Hi from Milwaukee

This is what I'm building instead… a Lockheed T-33 nose. Bought it for $7,500. Complete with all instruments, all controls, two ejection seats, canopy. The fuselage skin is rough… the museum I bought it from had bondo-ed the skin to fix holes, corrosion, dents.
