    Re: Projector screen build

    Hi all,

build a wall 180 degrees made by wood. A friend of mine helped me with the frame. One benq w1080st is already in place, the second one will be ordered next month. I will use Immersive Display Pro too.

    Hi Michael,
Not necessary, but will make it a lot easier.
The elise software itself is very easy to use ,
You can make a grid on your(flat) screen,
made by nylon line(fishing) some paperclips and elastic bands for tension,
    regards Henk

    Re: Projector screen build

    K.

Your setup looks pretty close too mine. I did my setup a few years or more back using the screen from Carl's Place (I was his first sim builder needing a screen), and they really help me with it, even though they had not done one before. The main thing was the curve in radius versus the total length of the screen itself; mine came out to 39feet.

Anyway, I used square shaped PVC Channels attached to metal 2x4 studs from ceiling to the floor too make the curvature, and then I used the bungees that came with the order to attach the screen. I think bungees is a great idea as it keeps the screen tight when everything else slightly expands or contracts in the room.

The one thing that is difficult about a screen like this is not touching it or making a mark on it, as it will show up when the projectors are turned on. My wife went through great lengths too make sure this didn't happen. Otherwise, there are no other flaws. For builders thinking of using a screen from Carl's Place, please call them beforehand, you'd be surprised how much they know about sim builders now, as many guys have gone this route since then.

As for your custom metal setup, will you please post pics of that, if you took any prior too attaching the screen, as well as provide contact info for the manufacturer? This winter (Wisconsin) my wife and I plan to dismantle mine, as we're having a 40'x63' shed built (right at this very moment builders are working a way) for the sim(s) too go into, and I'd like to use something simpler for the screen(s).

Thank you for sharing your build,

    John

    Re: Projector screen build

What’s the height and width of the screen itself? The height and width of each sheet of screen?
