Boeing Question about 7-set displays and MCP model in PSX

    Hi Nico,

When launching PSX with the default.situ file all my 7-seg displays of my MCP are dark.
This seemed normal to me as the situ uses a 747 with the mechanical MCP iso of the LCD display MCP.
All is OK when switching to the LCD MCP.

    HOWEVER...
I noticed when launching following situ: (non exhaustive list)
    - 00 Parked 001 - Sydney.situ
    - 01 Departure 002 - Tel viv - Hong Kong.situ
    - 01 Departure 003 - Sint Maarten - Sint Maarten.situ
    - 03 Approach 003 - Ulaanbatar - Extreme uphill runway.situ
The 7 seg displays are working fine although the mechanical MCP is used.

This is NOT the case for situ:
    - Default.situ
    - -Demo loop.situ

Can't seem to find the reason why there is a difference in behaviour between these.

Also noticed for the situ where the 7 seg displays are not working -
If I select under Model > Equipment > MCP display and layout LCD and deselect it again afterwards the 7 seg displays of the MCP will continue to work!

Could you have a look at this to see if maybe we can get PSXseecon to work right away with any MCP selected in PSX?

    Many thanks!
    Sylvain

Re: Question about 7-set displays and MCP model in PSX

    Hello Sylvain,

Sofar I had the impression that the MCP displays only work if the situ file contains a non-mechanical MCP (which sounds logical). So changing that in the situ will bring it to live, as you have noticed.

I'll look into the ones you described that behave differently to see what is causing this.

Do note that there is an easy way to force the situ to change the MCP settings:
Put these lines in your SIOC script and PSXseecon will force any situ to MCP's with LCDs and 2 digit Mach, upon starting PSXseecon. (Read more about it in the PSXseecon Manual section 3.15)

    Code:
    Var 0 Value 0
    {
// MCP has 7-segment digits, so force a PSX flight to switch to MCP with LCD's
      &CfgLcdMcpCtrl = 1

// and just two mach digits:
      &CfgMachSCtrl = 1
    }

    Var 5012 Static name CfgLcdMcpCtrl
    Var 5013 Static name CfgMachSCtrl
    Regards,
    Nico

Re: Question about 7-set displays and MCP model in PSX

I've looked into it in more detail and found a way to let PSXseecon always display MCP values, even for mechanical MCP windows.
Will be implemented in version 1.3.2

So there is no real need to force the MCP to LCD. However, forcing it to 2 digit Mach display is still handy

    Regards,
    Nico

Re: Question about 7-set displays and MCP model in PSX

    Great news Nico!
Is there indeed a difference between the situ or is it just the way PSXseecon accesses the info that made a difference in behaviour?

Although using the hardware OC MCP I often have the MCP displayed on screen in PSX too.
I like to keep the mechanical MCP when part of the selected model so I'm looking forward not to have to switch it every time.

Will take a look at modifying the Mach display to two digits. Thanks for the code!

    Regards,
    Sylvain
