    How to install OC CDU V3?

    Hi kiek,

    I'm here in almost the same situation. I use the CDU V3 approximately half a year with FS and pm without trouble. But trying to connect or to use it with PSX is really desperating. I'm not a programmer, so maybe I'm missing something very obvious... But I really do not know how to proceed.

    Situation:
    PSX server (sec. EICAS) and Client (CDU), SIOC 5.0.B5 and PSXseecon on the same computer. (Scenario A from manual)

    SIOC values:
    MASTER= 1,13,1,19
    When checking CDU Lights with SIOC Monitor: working
    When checking CDU Keys with the script of Mutleys Hangar: also working

    Then taking 5_occdu.txt and compile it (changing "Var 6000 Static name lek_Key Link USB_KEYS Device 4" to ".... Device 1" gives the same result. Then and enter "CONFIG_FILE=C:\Program Files (x86)\IOCards\SIOC\5_occdu.ssi in the SIOC.ini
    Then linking USB CDU V3 and script "Master...." via config devices.

    Starting PSX and PSXseecon. PSXseecon brings error 36. Ok, reading the manual again. "Scenario A says: In this scenario no configuration work is needed. PSXseecon will find PSX and SIOC and it will find the SIOC script(-s) that you are running automatically." Ok... probably not.

    So making a PSXseecon.cfg with this entries:
    IOCP_HOSTADDRESS=LOCALHOST
    IOCP_port=8092
    PSX_HOSTADDRESS=LOCALHOST
    CONFIG_FILE=C:\Program Files (x86)\IOCards\SIOC\5_occdu.ssi

    Starting again. Ok... PSXseecon starts an connects. Clicking on the CDU keys... nothing. Reading the manual again...

    "3.2
    For the CDU keyboard there are two implementation options. Take for instance Qh401: (for out of the box....)
    KeybCduL , Qh401, 1401, K ,
    KeybCduL , Qh401, 3401, -1..68 ,"

    Ok, entering these 2 lines in the PSXseecon.cfg
    Nothing... ok, probably something like a headline missing... What headline? If any?

    As said, I'm not a programmer, so please forgive me if I ask stupid questions... but any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Peter

    That's problem, I'm afraid.... You are trying to make a SIOC script and a sioc.ini that works for the Opencockpits CDU V3.
    You need some knowledge of SIOC in order to be able to do that...

    Note that the file you took 5_occdu.txt is not for the OC CDU v3. It's 95 % ok, but need some small refinements. I made it available for inspiration.

    In Scenario A no configuration work is needed indeed, so there is no need for PSXseecon.cfg. However, you stil have to make a SIOC script and get SIOC up and running....

    You better wait till somebody has made a plug and play version. I'll put it on my TO-DO list.

    Regards,
    Nico

    Ah.. I thought somewhere I read in the manual, it would work for this wonderful piece of hardware. Ok, then it is clear why not

    Thats good news. Thank you very much. I never thought its so complicated. If possible create also something for the CDU-R and CDU-C as I intend to buy them also somewhere in the future.

    Thanks again and regards
    Peter

    Re: How to install OC CDU V3?

    Hi Peter,

    FYI:
    In the Manual you'll find in section 3.2:

    "SIOC variable 1401 can be linked directly to an Opencockpits USB-Keys card. .."

    On Opencockpits USB-Keys card is not the same as OC FMC V3; it's part of it.

    Note that I have made Plug&Play scripts for the OC FMC V3 for the Level-D 767 in the past. It will not cost me a lot of time to make it for PSX. Please be patient

    Regards,
    Nico

    I came across the section thereafter "PSXseecon will convert the integer key card codes to the codes expected by PSX in Qh401.
    This variable works out of the box for USB-Keys cards coming with the Opencockpits 767/747 CDU (assembled or as kit)!" Thats why I thought the CDU V3 is already assembled... Just thinking to far or in the wrong direction.

    So no hurry anyway. Take you time. I'm glad to know that there is a solution in sight.

    regards
    Peter

    Could you try this script?

    Add these lines to sioc.ini:

    MASTER=5,13,1,?? change ?? by the value given by SIOC (19 in your case?)

    CONFIG_FILE=name_of_the_script.txt (put it in your SIOC folder so you do not need a full path name)

    Code:
    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
    //
    // Title: Opencockpits CDUV3 as PSX CDU Left

    Hello Nico,

    I did. Thank you very much. It seems to work without problems and was very easy to make it work

    I
    Entered
    MASTER=5,13,1,19
    and the line
    CONFIG_FILE=C:\Program Files (x86)\IOCards\SIOC\FMC.txt

    in the SIOC.ini (I took the full path name )

    Created a txt file with the script and named it FMC.txt

    Started PSX
    Started SIOC - file was automatically converted to FMC.ssi

    Entered the line
    CONFIG_FILE=C:\Program Files (x86)\IOCards\SIOC\FMC.ssi
    in the PSXseecon.cfg

    Started PSXseecon - CDU keys are working.

    I'm off for holidays for one week now and will continue testing in flight when back again.

    Thanks again (not much patience needed )
    Peter

    Hello Nico,

    from whatever reason my post from tonight is still not online. So here the short version:

    Script works fine after short testing. More to come when back from holiday.

    Thanks

    You can simplify that to:
    CONFIG_FILE=FMC.txt

    Which is more portable.

    Re: How to install OC CDU V3?

    Hi Peter,

    Today I've released PSXcockpit.zip with plug and play scripts for Opencockpit Modules. There is a setup.exe program that detects and configures the modules automatically, but you can of course also use the scripts your self.
    You'll find scripts for the FMCv3, as well for Left, Right as Center.

    Read more in the PSX OCM Manual

    Regards,
    Nico
