LINK2FS MULTI FSX v6 for EXPERTs released

I added everything talked about previously that was available.

It can now handle 5 cards in total.

An option to use LAN instead of serial is available for 4 of those 5 cards.

A lot of new SimConnect extractions.

A lot of new SimConnect direct inputs.

Added to the GPWS are ,,,
    “Approaching Minimums”
    “Minimums”
    Autopilot disconnect warning.
There are extra unused GPWS Wav files included so you can change some of them if you like.

Added 11 new triggers to the Anunnciator page.

Added a new area where the user can set SimConnect extractions for his own use.

Added a new area where the user can set SimConnect inputs for his own use.

Added an area where the user can set FSUIPC offsets for his own use as inputs or outputs.

Added the ability for the user to “test” input codes rather than have to re-code the Arduino.

Added the option with ‘Flaps’ to be in percent rather than angle.

Added the ability to send ‘seconds’ pulses from the main computer to the Arduino.

Added the ability for the Arduino to request the ‘Seconds’ to see if it was connected properly.

Added the ability for the Arduino to request a “refresh” burst if the refresh timer was turned off.

Reworked file naming code for the ‘Save’ button.

Reworked serial error detection so there was no “Lock-up”.

Don't put it in the same folder as an earlier Multi as there are different sound files and the 'card' names are the same as the 'experimental' version.

It will be interesting how it goes

I'm going to be away for about 3 weeks now so hopefully you Guys will sort it out.

    Have fun ,,, Jim

Re: LINK2FS MULTI FSX v6a for EXPERTs released

    Hi Jim and all
Thank you for this new version and to include com1sb/nav1sb command (working for me)
I have not tested your release at this moment but I just want to signal 2 or 3 things...

    cosmetic bug
    in the extractions 2 panel
the < p and < q : the feet of theses letters are truncated
maybe space between lines to short

    cosmetic bug
    in the simconnect inputs
    B33xxx : I think must read 1 to 360 (or 0 to 359) but not 0 to 360

Normal or not, I don't know
B21xxxx unable to set negative values for the vertical speed
    like B21-1000

Can you add a set mode for the autopilot switches
    B04 would be B04x (0 = off, 1 = on)
    B05 would be B05x (0 = off, 1 = on)
    etc...
because when initializing switches on my homemade panel, I don't know (with the toggle mode) witch position to set in the simulator. If you see that I mean

I think with the new expert mode, it is possible to do that with the right offset
I need to take time to learn about

Thanks again for your great software
    Ryan

Re: LINK2FS MULTI FSX v6a for EXPERTs released

    Hello all and Jim,
I'm trying to play with the new expert fonctions
Note : Every lines included as examples in fsuipc and simconnect working for me.

If I set a new line in fsuipc(1) page, then I click the reset button, this button stay red and new line is non operative
If I quit link2fs, my new entry parameters are not saved even if I click on save all settings
So I've decided to manually edited the expertsettings.ini and it's working like a charm but not very handy

Have you the same trouble I have : no new line working and not saved entry ?
    or I'm making a mistake ?

Like I said In my previous message, with the simconnect command B21xxxx, it's not possible to set negative value, now the expert fsuipc commands do the job

    example
    #h, Vertical speed, offset=07F2, Type=Short

testing sending directly with : #h-100 and #h100

Re: LINK2FS MULTI FSX v6a for EXPERTs released

Hi Ryan and thanks for the feedback.

Just to run thru what you found ,,,

Font's getting chopped off ... yes I'm aware of that and I tried different things and it either made the form look ugly or too big.
I might try different fonts when I get some time.

The 0 to 360 ,,, will be fixed in next release

A negative B21xx ,,, Go right to the top of the class for that one Ryan ,,, good find ,,, will be fixed in the next release.

Toggle verses pushbutton codes ,,, I did do some when I first made it but most of the AP stuff is a pushbutton stuff so I didn't go too deep with splitting them up.
There is the option for Guys to extract the switch's position and do the workout in the Arduino at anyrate.
I'll have another look at it tho.

If the Reset button is red ,, it's telling you that something is wrong (the formula is not workable) and while it is red, the button will not 'Reset' and will not save the ini file changes.

If the button is red you have 2 options ,,,
Find out and correct what is wrong with one or more of your entry's in that page
(note ,, the formula may be correct but if the 'Raw result' shows an alphabetical letter then it won't work ie .. you can't divide (or whatever) a raw result of '3H')

    or

Delete the 'expertsettings.ini' file and restart my program to go back to default.

Do NOT manually edit the 'expertsettings.ini' file as it would generally lead for more trouble ,, besides that ,, if the button is red the program wont process that whole page.

Good to know you got it sorted in the meantime Ryan but with the next release I'll have that negative AP vertspeed fixed.

There is another fault that popped up and that was ,, when in programming mode in the "Keys" section ,, there is a blanking off panel not in the right place.(it's still usable tho)
That will also be fixed in the next release ,, I'm guessing about few weeks unless some BIG thing is found. (I'm pretty tied up at the moment)

Again ,, thanks for the feedback Ryan ,, it's the only way of me finding these things out.

    Cheers ,, Jim

Re: LINK2FS MULTI FSX v6a for EXPERTs released

    Hello Jim and all
Thank you for your aswer, Jim
I'm Happy to help you a little like other guys in this forum

I always have difficulty to have a green reset button in fsuipc1
I made some tests this morning with stock setting in link2fs

    launching link2fs without sim
    simconnect extraction reset button green
    fsuipc1 reset button green
    ok, normal

quitting link2fs because simulator need to be launch before
    ok

launching sim then link2fs after arriving to the scenario setup (mono motor aircraft : important for the test I made)

    SIM | simconnect extraction | fsuipc1
    -------------------------------------
in scenario | N/A, Green reset button | N/A, Green reset button
in cockpit | Active, Red reset button | Active, Green reset button
changing aircraft to a bi motor
in cockpit | Active, Red reset button | Active, Red reset button
changing aircraft to a mono motor
in cockpit | Active, Red reset button | Active, Green reset button
(sorry, can't make table in forum)

Here, I don't understand why reset button goes to red state

I think I'm pointing something strange
The only differences between simconnect ext. and fsuipc1 are engine1 oil and temp for simconnect (useful for mono motor aircraft) and engine2 oil and temp for fsuipc (useful for bi motor aircraft)
These values constanly move, that's normal
So I've decided to add 2 lines to the fsuipc1 page when I've set mono motor aircraft (green reset button)
    engine1 oil pressure
#h 3b60 double (never enter formula)
    engine1 oil temp
#i 3b58 double (never enter formula)
    and click reset button
new values update constantly (working) but reset button stay red now
    quitting link2fs and deleting expertsettings.ini
relaunch link2fs (nothing has changed in sim)
so always red button state in simconnect page and green reset button state in fsuipc1 page (with mono motor aircraft)
    again set engine1 oil pressure
#h 3b60 double but this time enter something in formula :
wanting to set "/144" like existing example for engine2 oil pressure (#c)
reset button goes to Red when I enter the first character in formula '/'. It's normal, formula is incomplete.
finishing formula to "/144" always red reset button : can't save (formula is valid and complete, i think)

May be 2 troubles here (a simple assumption on my part, of course)
    -with constanly changing values
-with formula (bad test to verify good formula syntax ?)

Can you reproduce this, Jim ?

Re: LINK2FS MULTI FSX v6a for EXPERTs released

    Jim,

I am thoroughly enjoying the new Link2fs experts edition. Very nice to be able to try different codes (offsets) and the other new features are great. Thank you!

While experimenting with your software and programming Arduino code, which I must say I'm surprising myself at the progress I'm making, I've ordered a LOT of parts - breadboards, hookup wires, rotary switches and encoders, buttons, etc.

Your Link2fs software and examples especially have really opened the doors to what is possible and it is very encouraging.

    Thank you!
    Mike

Re: LINK2FS MULTI FSX v6a for EXPERTs released

Thank you Mike ,, it's always nice to have feedback and it's also nice knowing some-one is actually using a released program.

I got to admit there is a lot to fiddle with within the program and it would take some time to completely master all the bits and peices but I tend to like giving the user plenty of freedom to adjust things to what they want.

Of course ,, now you've been bitten by the bugs there will be no holding you back ,, sort of like a disease really.

Thanks again Mike ,, have fun with it ,, Jim

    Ryan ,, just a quick update ,,,

The high turn-over of the numbers is fine ,, in fact a good sign.

The 0 to 360 on the compass is actually 0 to 360 so the user can choose to suit what he is doing.
    ('0' = '360' so it doesn't matter)

Negative entrys into AP vertspeed in simconnect inputs all fixed.

I found a bug in that expert "Reset" button arrangement ,, all fixed.

The settings can be "Reset" and also saved now, even if there is an error somewhere.

If there is an error in working a formula ,, it now indicates which line is the error is in ,, making identifying the error real easy.

Unfortunately I can't get any time to finish it off but as soon as I can I'll get back to it ,, I'm guessing about 3 days time.

Sorry to be so quick but people are waiting for me here ,, gotta go.

    Cheers ,,, Jim
