Rotary switch swapped for push buttons?

    G'day

My first post and a question.

Simply put can the rotary switch as used in Jims radio project, be replaced with several normally open latch free push buttons. Or does the software need to see that one of the inputs (ADF, COM, NAV etc) be on all the time when selected.

I find myself without a functioning computer at moment, so am unable to try it out.

    Thanks

Re: Rotary switch swapped for push buttons?

Welcome aboard Mike ,,, Yes the code does need a rotary switch (or latched buttons) for it to operate correctly.

But ,,, I just had a quick look to check and it would be very easy to convert the code so it would operate with just ordinary buttons like you want to do.

Do your build and test things first (you'll have to hold a button 'on') and if you can't sort out how to fix it ,, just pop back here.

    Cheers ,,, Jim

Re: Rotary switch swapped for push buttons?

    Hi Jim

    Thanks for the welcome.

It's an idea of mine to replace the rotary switch with push buttons and accompany them with LEDs for identification.
Also like the look off 2 separate LCDs one for Nav stuff the other for Coms.
As you said I just need to breadboard it and try it out.

    Thanks
