Best Rotary Encoder for Altimeter Setting, Heading Bug, Etc?
The title says it all. I'm looking for a good rotary encoder for those, and I'm wondering what your experiences are. Since I'm using a monitor to display the gauges, and I want to have the monitor as close to the MIP as possible, I need something that doesn't take up too much space behind the panel.
Thanks
PS: Because you've all been so patient, here's a sneak preview of the unfinished captain's MIP:XHGztwC.jpg

Many of you guys have already built home cockpits! Haven't you monitor gauge folk run into this before?

The monitors in those pics look like they're right up against the panel!, I must know where to get rotary encoders like that!

Hi Avro748
You could do a search here at Mycockpits. Here is one:

The question is what depth can you accept
and any specific Interface board you're aiming for?

I'll be using the GP-Wiz board. It does have rotary support, and though it's not as good as the BBI-32, it's much faster and cheaper to ship to where I live.
Thanks

Wow, I really should have searched before posting. I found the one I'm going to use now.
PS: I love your use of the encoder from a mouse. Quite ingenious.
