Boeing 737 Shell In Google Sketchup
Hello! this was a project i was working on for i think a year ago, but went dead since i didnt have enough space. basicle i created a shell 1:1 scala (i think) and made my room also 1:1 scala to check if the shell fited with projector or TV screen and comed to the conclusion that it didnt fit. i closed the project with finishing the shell in sketchup, but maby someday i will start on it again. But heres some screenshot

Hello Super2277.
Do not give up on your plan for a decent 737 shell even if your room is too small for
projectors and screen. CastAR (release late 2014) may be the solution for you and
others in the same situation.

Re: Boeing 737 Shell In Google Sketchup
Im thinking about building the shell, just not the outside look of it, im thinking about using TV screens for the outside view

Sketchup is nice for quick visualizations. I use Autocad for the finer details, but I use Sketchup most of the time.

Hey great design!
Just out of interest which verison of sketchup did you save it in? im using the current sketchup 2013 and it says its not a valid model Keep up the good work. Looks fantastic!

Re: Boeing 737 Shell In Google Sketchup
I tested it, and it works fine for me. I stick with the Pre-Trimble version (Sketchup 8) because they changed the way some of the tools work and I was used to the Google version. Maybe I should plan a shell in it too. No real point in Autocad-ing it as I don't have a CNC yet.

Just a tip, the window angle may be wrong! But the ribs of the shell should be 1:1 i think.

Re: Boeing 737 Shell In Google Sketchup
Hey guys.
Thanks for the kind responses, I got it working! must have been a glitch with my system when I tried the second time with skup8. Third time lucky!
I am still in the planning stages of my build but I have decided to take my time and start with the shell, mainly because I like working with wood and to get a really good shell would be fantastic.
Im going to make a 1/5 scale model of the shell first, maybe even cover it and then see where we go from here. My garage is 9ft wide by 8ft high so it should be enough including projectors (I could maybe add another 1ft to height due to fake garage ceiling). Im really looking forward to this project as its my first outing into the homeBuild arena. Im taking my time and doing tons of planning, lets see where I get to with the mock-up - im sure I will learn a few lessons with that. I will post a few pics when the mockup is complete!
Cheers Guys,
James.

Re: Boeing 737 Shell In Google Sketchup
If you're starting with the shell, why not do a 737-100/200 or 737 Classic? They have pretty much the same shell, and would be a lot more interesting than the many NGs that flood the forum. Another advantage to doing a 100/200 would be the lack of fmc and thus a much lower cost. It's all up to you though, and you should do the one that you like.
