Rudder pedal with pot + Arduino mega

    Hi everyone

My mega just came in today and I'm very eager to make a rudder pedal with it.
after searching the web and the forums, I still don't have an idea how to go around making it. I've also tested the pot with the examples in the card.
Can anyone tell me how to get the analog signals from the card to a rudder pedal axis

    thanks

Re: Rudder pedal with pot + Arduino mega

The best way to input an 'axis' (rudder, joystick etc) into windows, (where windows see's it as a joystick input, and consequently Flight sim) is to strip out the electronic card from an old USB joystick or buy a card that's made for that purpose.

We use the Arduino in it's "raw state" (as bought) to do all the 'other' things with flight sim and my Link2fs software is not suitable for inputting axis's into windows for that reason.

You can convert the Arduino into a USB joystick (as seen by windows) but that rules out it's versatility with handling all the 'other' things that we want ,, so do a search for the different methods if you want to follow that thru.

Good luck with the research ,,, Jim

    Hi jim,

I guess i'll have to make the rudder pedals using a different method. I've already started making a light switch panel using link2fs_keys and boy is it easy! Thank you for your work, it's very much appreciated

    Hi there
I made my rudder pedals out of timber ( found the plan on the web some were) if you need it I will look further.
Connected it all up as Jim suggested using an old joystick plunged into the USB
Let me no if you need the plan

That would be very helpful. Was the joystick you used from a playstation type or was it from a flight joystick?

Hope this is ok to post here while not strictley Arduino it is related to flight
    Just a standed gaming joystick.
I used the electronics from this site ( thanks ) DIY USB rudder pedals and made my pedals form FlightSim.Com - How To Build Rudder Pedals ( thanks to bill spencer)
With a few mods they work fine on my system wimdows 7 64 bit
You could make them out of metal my ones are out of wood as I am a builder not an engineer.
There are other versions on the flightsim web site and on the web.
