I was too busy reading and studying the detail.

Re: Link2fs MULTI Beta Testers test :)

    ** testresults Multi part 2 ***

    1) tested extractions page 2
    - select item, checked value on screen
    - select read items
    - all chatter and GPWS off, no arduino connected
    - default aircraft: Baron, cessna and 737
    - realair Beechcraft Duke

    Sytems1
    - all tested
    - some labels are not completly readable
    - fuelvalve data 1 and 2 remain constant. used the baron to test, shut both valves on/of it remains "1"

    Sytems 2
    - all tested okay
    - ?X only shows data with default aircraft, the Beach Duke does not work. But, thats an add-on, possibly differently coded.
    - as mentioned in earlier post temp readings are possible in fahrenheit
    - longitudinal airspeed is indeed active when winds are in effect as you replied earlier.

    Other
    - all tested okay

    Test profiles:
    - save, edit and save, erase works

    Keys Input
    - all chatter and GPWS off
    - default aircraft: Baron, cessna and 737
    - tested with 1 single pole single throw Swith (on/off) on card1 com6, 115200

    editing keys work (like Link2FSv4)
    - high and low states work, but did notice loss of focus. After switch High, the Low does not work until I manually "click" with mouse on Multi-FS program. then it shows on the "from port" after a pause my multiple low-high inputs, ( i recycled the key numerous times ) so it does register the keys, but apparantly did not send it to FSX until it got the focus back.

EDIT: I am not sure if its a focus thing or if the application is doing other things until it can send te data to FSX.
This is also the case with switch from LOW to High. testing with Link2Fsv4 withe the same pde: there is no problem there. Changing communication settings has no effect (cycle time, refresh time)

EDIT: I retested this part above again to try to get some reproduction path. I can't point my finger at a possible common scenario's where it 'breaks'
I did have multiple times where the application just quit running. Only disconnecting the card (pulling the usb cable out of the card) offered a way out of the application. I also noticed that the switch logics works perfect without FSX running and only link2fs_Multi connected to the card with switch. No crashes, no delays.

    Card settings tests
    - Only 1 card is supported in this version? I can select Card 2 in traffic monitor, but serial comms card 2 remains greyed out.

    so far testresults part 2.
probably more tests with the Annunciator and gpws pages later. (next week earliest)

    greetings, Eric

Hi Jim, I haven't had time to mess with mine but to clarify:

I gather tho that you never unchecked the chatter section but only the GPWS ??? so I'll have a closer look at it's code just to make sure.

yes this is true. The chatter was still checked, however I didn't set the frequency to hear anything or I might not have it turned on in the FSX controls. Actually at first I thought you were talking about the call-outs. Anyway all was good and thanks to Eric for helping you. Much more thorough than I.

Re: Link2fs MULTI Beta Testers test :)

Great stuff Guys ,,, it's helped me big time.

Lee ,, yes all understood,,, You are right ,,, with the chatter "active" but the radio frequency not tuned to where the wav files are ,, then it would effectively (program wise) make that section dead as well.
Great stuff ,, it makes sense. THANKS Lee.

Eric ,, I've done everything you found ,, THANKS Eric ,, It's saved me hours,, and I loath testing ,, testing ,,, testing.

A couple of things raised my eyebrows ,,,
Some labels not readable ,,, what screen resolution are you running ???
Can you send me via email a screen grab picture please ???
If it's serious I'll have to do some fiddling.
    I run 1024 x 768 Yea ,, I know ,, I know

The keys / com problem I think that is fixed in this next release.
BUT ,, what brand of card are you running ??????
What version of the Arduino IDE are you running ?????

Update as to where I'm at ,,,
As above, all the extractions are fixed.
    Serial com's reworked.
    Keys reworked
    Chatter reworked
    GPWS reworked.
    Hehee ,, there's not a lot I haven't reworked !!!

I have now stopped any more extraction fix's (I'll catch any more the next time round) and I'll package the new multi and put together a "tester" INO that will help you Guys on "quick fire" tests dealing with com stuff and windows compatibility stuff.
All you'll need is an Arduino card with no hardware attached.
Hopefully it will only take about a couple of minutes to see if all's well or not.
It's going to be interesting this bit
Probably this coming week if all goes well.

Thanks again Guys ,, marvelous ,,, Jim

Re: Link2fs MULTI Beta Testers test :)

Yes I got it Eric and it was a great help. Thanks a lot.

Just and update (in case you think I've gone to sleep ),,,,
It's all done and the whole thing now appears to be settled in my system.
All the found bugs are fixed.
All the found mistakes are fixed.
It works great feeding and reading 3 cards.
(Although it's easy to get confused)
I also added a full page serial scrolling monitor.(Both ways for any of the cards)
It finds all the available "free" com. ports for you.

I made a "Multi-self-test" INO which simplifies testing of the coms (both ways) and test's the "Keys" part.
It test's out fine in XP and I'm now going to "soak" test it in Win 7.

So, probably sometime this week (weekend at latest) it should be out.

Special thanks to the Beta testers that gave me feed-back. Without them I'd still be just floundering along.

See ya then Guys ,,, Jim

How many switches, annunciator or other LEDs etc do you recon the Multi will be able to run? I have changed my mind from 737 which i was busy with using FSBUS and now i am going B200. could i do it with 3 MEGAs?

Hi shearder, the B200 should be a nice project to work with. As far as how many boards you will need will be how extensive a simpit you want to build. My son and I are building simpits with the same boards, but entirely different approach to our wiring and layouts even tho we based our pits on the Duke. I have built and rebuilt my panel several times and each time I do, it is different. My advice is to pick a project that you want most and build it until you have what you need. For me it was the autopilot. When I didn't have the right switches to finish, I worked on landing gear. I'm not finished yet and I have 1 mega and 1 pokeys which I had before I found the mega. I have to date, 14 encoders on one mega a bunch of switches, still have room for more. Just buy your supplies as you need them cause at this point you probably don't know how you want to design your project. Have fun in building.
    regards, Lee

Re: Link2fs MULTI Beta Testers test :)

I've just updated this thing so if anyone wants to play with more than 1 card then go back to ,,,

    http://www.jimspage.co.nz/Link2fs_Multi.htm
You will probably have to hit refresh to see the new page and see the new download link.

All known bugs were fixed and it has with it a "self test" INO for Arduino's attached to the "Multi".

While you Guys test and report ,, I'll be doing some demo INO's to suit various things.
The demo INO's are going to be a bit different to the normal "Run of the mill" stuff and it should be real easy to convert code to the new identifiers.

    Always something new ,,,

    Happy testing ,,, Jim
