    OpenCockpits output board questions

Can someone tell if it is deadly necesary to use resisters with opencockpits LED-output board?

And also tell me if it is possible to use it without external powersource?

And last - is the common-ground negative on OC's board?

    Re: OpenCockpits output board questions

    Hi Jesper

Well it's depending on the the power input, how high it is and which types of LED's you are using. Use a external powersource the USB power it not enough. Eg. take the 5v from the powersupply ind rhe computer.

High brigts LED's dont require a large resistor, but it's also depending on the type of annucatior you which to use

    Regards

    Jesper

I assume you mean the USBOutput card and not the new OUTS card. In which case the OC manual for this card advises that the common ground is positive

I believe that with nearly all LED's (except those with integrated resistors) should all have a resistor wired inline... I personally connect all my 5v LED's and Ultra Bright LED's with a 330ohm resistor.

I have previously connected all three of my USBOutputs cards to my PC using the standard jumper settings (no using an external power supply) and all three worked well.... Just make sure you have a pretty beefy PSU in your PC to be able to power all three cards once fully loaded... I personally am running a 750watt PSU in my PC.

As fordgt40 said, the USBOutputs card uses a positive common!

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers,
    Bobby
