    Microsoft FSX Problems installing FSX

Today I inserted the FSX DVD into my main FS computer and ran into my first problem.
This is not a valid Win32 file

And then I googled, ended up reading a story about no solution from MS apart from reinstalling the OS etc. Then I found a post somewhere that stated I should try to replace the DVD ROM drive by an old DVD ROM and this might be a workaround.

To test this I put the FSX DVD in my "older" GC PFD/ND computer and it automatically started the installation. I cancelled this, shared the old DVD drive on the network, and started the setup remote from my "newer" FS PC and this time it worked. No error message about the win32 file. I cancelled the install and now plan to temporarily build the old DVD ROM drive into my "newer" FS computer.

    Keep you posted.

first as well you didn't go the the bother of reinstalling windows. I've heard of virtual drives giving the same sort of problem.
glad you got it sorted temporarily at least.
