    cardboard cockpit

Hello all. I started with MS Flight Simulator 2.13 quite some time ago and have kept up the interest ever since. At last I've started thinking about cockpit construction and made the first steps in that direction. My cardboard cockpit consists of two TFT monitors - 17 and 22 inches - and one 9.7 inch iPad instrument display. FSX full screen scenery is displayed in the TFT monitors via softTH and gives a decent 24+ FPS with an nVidia GT240 1GB card. The gauges are generated by GaugeBook which runs on a second PC in a wireless network with XP automatically loading Air Display for the iPad.

The panel was constructed from 3.5 mm millboard: rectangular base, shaped front panel with window, two triangular supports and two L-shaped retainers for the iPad to slide in. Rectangular sub-panels and 16 computer case screws were added and it was finished with acrylic paints.

This setup will do me for now.
