Suggestions for 5.6" or 7" Monitor for Garmin 530W

Could some one please offer some idea for this? I am rather confused on this. I keep reading
everyone using VGA monitors. I don't understand why since output from most modern PC's
    is SVGA, or XVGA.

I'm getting new pc tomorrow and want to pick up a the 5.6 or 7" monitor in few weeks or so.

Also, could someone please explain the why you would use VGA, or XVGA and what is the difference between them? I know VGA is old tech, so I have some confusion on this.

    Thanks

just search it on the internet, it's only a matter of how many pixels on your screen and nothing to do with screen size. We tend to say VGA monitors because VGA was the first video graphics used in PCs and it's become a generic name for the PC video output, bit like Hoover for vacuum cleaners. Buy the higher density monitor as it will also display the lower density settings. I believe that the bitmaps of FSX are only drawn in 1280x1024 anyway.
