building a cockpit with very little space?

I'd like to buid/attempt to build a cockpit. I was either looking at a 737-NG or a A10-C. I'm leaning more towards the A-10C because of space allowed (one-bedroom apartment). I found a site that has some files to build the various panels. Are there any sites that sell a MIP for the A-10C? What about the instruments?

The 737 is my next choice because of parts availability, but space is limited so I won't be able to do it justice, I also don't want to take up half of my living room. I'll use multiple displays instead of a projector.

You will be surprised how little space a 737 takes.
Until I get mine into the garage (nearly there - spent all afternoon putting in the carpets ) I have a 6 foot x 6 foot area and it fits no problem.

The space I have to work with is 4 1/2 feet x 5 1/2 feet.

Actually it is a micro overhead for the 737. I meant to suggest that you don't have to build something that is at a 1:1 ratio with the plane itself, if space is of utmost importance. You can always make something at a smaller scale or with just the most essential functions.

Depends on what are your expectations...

If you want only 1:1 you can easily measure your space in regards to the markus pilot site and you can't go wrong....

In any other case you can, as many people here have done, build a smaller scale on your space requirement. I have seen cockpits like these and beleive me you cannot tell the difference, unless you are a real pilot or something.

Although I know you have your sites on two specific aircraft already, given limited space you may want to expand your selection. Single seat or inline multi seat military aircraft are great where space may be an issue. But, if you want to do something more in keeping with your first choice, and if you want to maintain 1:1 fidelity in your build there may be several other regional jet or corporate jet options that will fit in the space you have.

I was thinking GA if I couldn't fit the 737 in. I then saw the A-10C Warthog from DCS and replaced GA with the A-10.
I'll do some more measuring this weekend.
