Re: Leo's had to put his price up....

One of my favorites that I learned when my company had some sales reps from the UK join us for a meeting in the US was "Dodgy" translation per their explanation is suspicious or questionable.

Anyway to pull this thread back closer to the starting point, I haven't noticed any significant uptick in Leo's prices.

And now for a slight thread swerve: But, the "Out of Stock" situation on several items is a little frustrating. In some cases the items are common and can be sources elsewhere. Others though, like those 3 pin connectors for his two older boards are hard to find. I've tried two different alternate connectors and neither worked.

I've e-mailed him a couple times to ask for an update on when they'd be back in stock but did not receive a reply to those messages. Also asked if he could provide the spec so I could source them elsewhere while he's out. No reply there either. I really like his boards but like many small or home based businesses they are challenged by communications overload.

Hoping those connectors are back in inventory soon since the alternate connectors I found require quite a bit of modification to fit and I don't trust them enough to mount the board up under the MIP. Really looking to order them from him or find the correct ones elsewhere. By next month I'll be at a point where that is holding up the build.

They are the EASIEST connectors to find. All they are are servo extensions, ebay is smothered with them. I bought 5 for 99p and that included delivery....

Strange. I bought a set of 3 pin RC servo connectors from a local hobby shop and the shell is too deep. The pin/socket size is correct. The pin spacing 0.1" (2.54mm) is correct. But the shell extends forward of the pins just far enough that they don't seat tightly onto the board.

I asked at the hobby shop and was told there was really only one standard connector but maybe that's not true.

I don't have an assembled pic handy but here's the pic from the store where I got them:

    a20791e133898763617048_m.jpg

    They are described as:

EMS Unassembled Radio System Connectors (3-pin Servo Connectors). Compatible with Hitec, Airtronics Z and JR systems
I may try trimming the nose off the plastic shell so the socket sits further down on the board. But, short of that modification they don't work.

That's what I was referring to below. The holidays have limited my build time, but hopefully next week I'll be getting back on track and thats one of the items on my to do list.

Project Magenta Re: Leo's had to put his price up....

I may be able to help with the 3 pin connectors, I bought 2000 of the plastic part and the matching number of inserts to crimp to your own wires if need be.

    THANKS!

I'll see if I'm successful cutting down the ones I have. IF not, I may take you up on the offer.
