F4U and Other Cockpit Shells
I came across this site by accident, but I am fascinated by the content. I never knew about this hobby. I am an airline pilot (EMB 170 & 190, B727-767, currently AB 319-321) and retired Air Force pilot(F-4 Phantom)
As I stated in my introduction, I am building an 82% F4U Corsair. It would be easy to build a cockpit for a simulator from my molds (moulds for the UK guys).
I can do the same for just about any aircraft if more than two or three are wanted.
This is my hobby. Materials would have to be paid for, but I am not interested in making a living from this.
Is there any interest out there for my craftsmenship?

Re: F4U and Other Cockpit Shells
The short answer is YES!
There are currently companies out there that build shells...
Before shipping from Holland they cost more than a c152...

Re: F4U and Other Cockpit Shells
What verion of F-4 did you fly? F-4 and F4U are my favorite planes. We have the very last F-4D simulator to be used at McConnell AFB. http://f4sim.com
I look forward to seeing your F4U progress!

Re: F4U and Other Cockpit Shells
I'm quite certain there is a huge interest in your hobby. Would you have a ball park figure of what supplies and your time would come in at in dollar figures for a 737NG shell? I'm certainly interested, but currently working on a throttle quadrant so shell is a bit further down the road.

Re: F4U and Other Cockpit Shells
That would be hard to do without any specifications. I'd need to know the scale and how accurate it would need to be, and if there is a need for any interior panels.
If there is an existing shell I could use to make molds, It would be easier and cheaper to reproduce in numbers.Tony "Baretta"
