I contacted a switch company here in Europe who already did some work on simulator parts (I think it are PFC parts...) and asked them if they would be able to make a complete engraved set of pushbutton lenses for the G1000. They were not unwilling I had the impression but I have no clue on the prices yet.
Of course the price will go down the more you order. The complete G1000 set incl. Keypad and Audio Control Panel comprises 125 buttons.

Are there any people here on MyCockpit.org who would be interested in such a set of buttons?
Maybe (if they would do it in the first place) I can get a better price for 5 sets i.s.o one!

    regards,

    Lizz
I don´t know if this is still an actual topic, but I would be interested.

    Re: Garmin G1000 pushbuttons

I finally decided to go with the G1000 as it will make it easier to switch from one aircraft type to another. Well... at least I think it will. I prefer the analog gauges but over the long run the G1000 will fit my wants better.

Earlier in the thread I see several post about the different stand alone software that definetly be of interest.

Concerning the buttons, has the engraving on the top been figured out?

    Thanks

    Jake

    Re: Garmin G1000 pushbuttons

    Hi,

Myself and my mate are currently autocading the panel for
the G1000 so it can be 3D printed (I hope depends on cost)
otherwise I'll have to build a mold for it.

We are modelling the frame on Flight1's G1000
using a 15 inch monitor. We're hoping to use the
    Pokey's 56U board.

As for interfacing, according to Flight1, a keyboard.ini file is included
so you can map all controls via keyboard hardware input via something
    like pokey.

As for buttons and knobs, well I've been looking for awhile now and it
pretty much looks like I'm going to have to builld molds of those too.
We want the whole thing to look and behave exactly like the real thing.

    Re: Garmin G1000 pushbuttons

I found quotes for 3D printing to be expensive and that was having it done at uni. I elected to use a later cutter instead and assemble the components to form the G1000 units. I too am using a 15" monitor and I am starting to think this is far to big. I have an inch and a half of monitor above the top of the MIP at present as I wanted my yoke to be in a realistic location. You can see the results on my blog:

I don't know if you ordered those buttons already, but I would be interested in ordering them too.

    Re: Garmin G1000 pushbuttons

    Hi Chico,

Yes you seem to have a problem there... we're using the full width and height
of the 15 inch monitor for the G1000, and our MIP (stands for My Instrument Panel???)
has not been made yet. Since it depended on whether we could get the g1000 idea
    to fly.

I'd be interested in a supply of buttons and knobs. Whose selling them?

    Re: Garmin G1000 pushbuttons

Once I get done with the TQ I will start working on my version of the G1000. One question I have not been able to nail down is how to get the graphics on the buttons?
