    overclocking pc

    Hi just overclocked my pc,
Now my FSX starts even slower or will not start at all.
loading can take up to 10 minutes normal about 4 minutes
I have an intell 4 core 2,6 ghz 2gb Asus Maximus extreme mobo with a 9800+ gr. card overclocked to 3,2 GHZ
    cooling is oke
But my FSX sucks , only to find that the FPS when starting is only 5 to 7 FPS faster
    Advise is needed
    thanks
    Kermit

Overclock is a little help for your PC, but only when its works ok.

You can overclock your system only when its absolutely installed, configured and stable. If your FSX sometimes does not boot up, something is very wrong within your system.

After make any test with FSX make sure your system (board-processor-ram) can handle up with your OC. Try prime95, cinebench, etc and run for hours. You know, OC its not a science, some system can, others dont. Core 2 Quad are not the best for OC (they cant raise like I7 do). You need a good power supply too (you didnt mention).

I have a I7 2.8@4.0 and run perfectly, 48h running stress software without any problem. Remember to disable hyperthreading (FSX takes not advantage with it, and burns up the processors heat).

Also search the web about Jesus Altuve (aka bojote on AVSIM) about some fsx.cfg tweaks for raise the fsx perfomance with high clock speeds.

    Saludos!

    Hi Kermit,

First thing that comes to my mind is check thevoltages of your CPU and memory . They might be to low. Even if you have a stable system. Don't let the bios manage the voltages with an overclock ( usually to high)

    Hope it helps!

I`m not sure about purchasing an ssd ,
as for some of my add ons are asking to put them on the same disk as fsx.
What can I expect on the almighty framerates , can somebody pointing me to the right websites please
