    737 Glareshield Help

    Hey Guys

I am at the stage where I am looking to buy the MIP and glareshield for my cockpit.
I am a little concerned about finding a suitable glareshield for my harwarde as i have a CP Flight Classic MCP (85% scaled) and an opencockpits EFIS.
Any guidance on how to tackle this.

Which part are you specifically referring to as the glareshield?

    Re: 737 Glareshield Help

    Hi Sean

I am concerned that i will not be able to find a suitably sized bracket to mount my hardware in the centre of the glareshield and am exploring the options available.

    Thanks

So you are looking for a bracket to take the CPFlight MCP and OC EFIS units? Something like this, but to your own dimensions?

    That's correct.
    What do you suggest?

    Re: 737 Glareshield Help

My first suggestion would be could I alter the Engravity 85% scaled bracket to take the OC EFIS units? What are the dimensions of the OC unit's?

Next suggestion would be to either make my own (I wouldn't do this, I hate 'making' stuff), or get a local steel fabricator to make one for you (provide him with the CAD files).

    Re: 737 Glareshield Help

Hi guys, this is how I did mine a few years ago...

This is quite a simple solution, I covered the framwork in 3mm MDF sheeting and then stuck vinyl upholstery to it. It is one of the few pieces that will be re-used in my current rebuild of the sim!
(My sim actually had CRT monitors back then, they look ancient now hey!!!)

    Cheers Gwyn

    Re: 737 Glareshield Help

What about building it from wood. Especially for the glareshield parts I made some good experience with this material (for pictures see the link to the blog below).
