Tutorial for fs2004 on multiple computers?

I'm sure this has been explained many times. I am looking to run the front views from one computer and instruments through multiple monitors on another (or two). I will be using the Project Tupolev TU-154, so I will be using their guage panels, so I don't think I can use FSexpand.

Can anyone point me to a good tutorial, thread or website on how to do this?

    MAny thanks for the help.

I have found in another forum once gathered the basics. Only in German. Maybe it helps but went further. If necessary, translate automatically.

I think you will be needing FSUIPC and FSWide. I think I'm missing something but hopefully other members will fill in the gaps.

    Hi,

If you find a good tutorial please let me know... because I couldn't find one... maybe I should write one...

Here's my current setup for FSX that hopefully one day will evolve to a nice cockpit. If you decide to take a similar path I strongly recommend to do your research first. There are important things to know about Wideview, TripleHead2Go, hardware setup and performance issues. (I learned some things the hard way.)

    Regards,
    Henri

Thanks for the help. I have a few options for what I am trying to do. When I succeed, I will write my own tutorial. There are many ways to get this done. I guess everybody finds their own way.

Re: Tutorial for fs2004 on multiple computers?

So I now understand why there is not a specific turorial for setting up multiple computers. It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. So far I think I need to use wideview (and FSPUIC) in order to run a single projector on a laptop for the outside view and a comparable desktop with multiple graphics cards for panel views. Since I am using panels with very specific Russian guages, I can't really use fsxpand without editing a lot of their guages. I may use FSxpand on another PC if I decide to run a number of more generic guages. My impression that running MS2004 on different computers can create timing issues particularly with viewing traffic across multiple views. Since I am running outside views on 1 PC, this shouldn't be a problem. I have already been able to setup the cockpit very roughly the way I want on 1 PC, but I think having a dedicated PC with outside views would help performance (even though it wasn't bad at all on a single PC. At some point, I may add 3H2go to provide side vews using either monitors positioned in the side windows or additional projectors if my space allows. I have never networked computers together, so that will be my learning curve for me. BTW I will be using FSpanel studio to size and position guages to fit my needs. Since I am not replicating specific diomensions, this work out.

I think I am on the right track. Fell free to tell me if I am going off the rails somehow or misunderstand something.

And thanks again for the kind help.

    Hi,

Be aware that adding a view on the computer will have a significant impact on the FPS. I use my TH2G for one view only. With current hardware and FSX I get 40-60 FPS. If I add a view the FPS drops to under 30.
I know from own experience that if two computers are used, the more powerful one is best to use for external view. This is also very clearly said on the FAQ at wideview.it.

    Henri

Re: Tutorial for fs2004 on multiple computers?

Well I have been tinkering with Wideview for a few days now with no luck. I am trying to add a single view, the front outside view as a client. The server will run all my panels using 3 graphics cards. I haven't been able to get it to work at all. I may go back to using 1 pc, as I was doing allright getting views and panels where I wanted them.
