    Spindle Motors v Routers

    Hi Guys,
Im thinking about replacing my current router(cheap $20 from Harbour freight) with
something better. Routers are inherently Noisey beasts and runout is quite poor.
I have just been looking at these Chinese spindles which start at 800 watt and up.
They would be much quieter than routers. Has anyone thought about these. Ive read
quite a few guys have used them and find them great. Runout is supposed to be .005mm.
Much better than a Router and the price including VFD(vertical frequency driver) is
US$200 less shipping. These are 1 phase in and 3 phase for the motor, both 100v/220v versions available.Power from .8kw to 5kw.These run at 400hz.
With these you will be getting the better accuracy if needed.
Be interested on the thoughts of you guys.

The price kind of looks to good to be true, I would be interested to know if these are any good though.

    Cheers

    Hi Steve,
Like everything, you get what you pay for. There has been mixed reactions, motors seem reasonable but VFD may be the weak link.
However others have carried out some minimal mods to the VFD and improved it greatly. Sounds like it is a copy of the Mitsi VFD, just abit under designed.
Take a look at this thread, hasnt put me off buying one though.
