Look for Help to interface SIOC from a C/C++ application

    Hello Nico,

my name is Rolf Gabler, and I'm building an A320 cockpit in Berlin. You already had helped me propably back in 2006 when I started my project and I made my first steps with the Opencockpits hardware then.

My cockpit has progressed in the meantime and now I'm planning to write a C/C++ application with an interface to SIOC to implement functions which are akward to realise with SIOC.

I was browsing for some tutorial or information on how to establish the communication between SIOC and a C/C++ application, but couldn't find any useful information. However I discovered your lekseecon programme , which seems to make use of this interface.
Could you point me the link where you have your information about this interface from? Or do you have some small prototype application you wrote during the lekseecon development which tests the interface and I could use as a starting point?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for your help and a Happy New Year 2011.

    Rolf (GablerR@yahoo.com)

    Hello Rolf,

You can communicate with the SIOC Server (in the SIOC application) with the IOCP protocol. That's a very simple set of text messages. It is very briefly, and not in very good English i'm afraid, described in this document: IOCP protocol 1.1.

I send and recive these messages over an asynchronous Winsock 2 connection over TCP/IP.

    regards,
    Nico

    Hi Nico and David,

thanks for your help. This is the information I was looking for. I have started programming and succeeded in establishing the communicaton in both directions. Still some way to go though ...

Thanks again for the swift response
