Re: Does Leo Bodnar still sell controller cards?

    Hi Guys,

Has anyone heard from Leo lately? (and yes I have read these threads first )

One of my boards recently went down in my overhead and I emailed Leo who promptly said for me to send it back for him to look at.

I sent it over 4 weeks ago and have not heard from him since, I have emailed a few times and PM'd here but no reply.

I appreciate he is busy, please do not get me wrong I understand - I suppose I am just a little impatient as my 737 is 'inop' and me and my mate want to practice the drills he learnt in his recent MCC course in a Level D 737.

    Kind Regards

    Jon

Re: Does Leo Bodnar still sell controller cards?

From my experience; dealing with these guys has been a horrible experience.

They ignored emailed after email and didnt give a damn about helping sort out my problem. I eventually lodged a dispute on PayPal and only once I escalated to a claim did they email back, but even when they did mail be back, they sent a sarcastic email back and tried to trick me into closing the dispute (just shows their level of integrity); luckily PayPal advised me not to close the dispute and I eventually won the case.

Here are two email address I have for them:
    mark[at]leobodnar[dot]com
    leo[at]leobodnar[dot]com

But don’t count your luck; they have absolutely no sense of common courtesy.

I would suggest you go with OpenCockpits solutions; they were excellent in every aspect.

    Regards,
    Andrew

May I just clarify what the "problem" was so that we don't keep others in the dark, OK?

On 16th of January you have placed an order with the UK street address but instead specified South Africa as the destination country:

    L*** G***
    *** House, High Street
    Mickleton, nr Chipping Campden
    Gloucestershire, GL55 *** UK
    South Africa
You have also left no special instructions with the order:

    Instructions to merchant
The buyer hasn't entered any instructions.
The person who was handling order shipping on my behalf obviously posted your two BU0836X to [non-existent] address in South Africa.
You order has been dispatched same day within two hours of receiving it (not that it matters now.)

You have then proceeded to lay the blame on me demanding that I sort "your problem" and pushing for the replacement or refund.

Realising that there is zero chance of anything returning back from SA you have placed the money back claim with PayPal just mere 10 days after placing the order.

Maybe you should mention all the details before you ask the public to judge or sympathise.

As a personal remark in a situation like this I wouldn't even dare to place a blame on anybody else but myself and would have fixed PayPal address instead. The bottom line is I have paid £100 for your mistake and you keep preaching how morally corrupt I am.

    Best wishes
    Leo

Re: Does Leo Bodnar still sell controller cards?

Correct is that an email was sent to ignore the South Africa part but was not looked at which I had a card perfectly delivered a couple days before to that address.

What I am getting at and the complaint is not only by myself is that there is not communication from your self so the consumer has no idea what is happening and email after email goes ignored; the only reason this had gotten to a claim point is that I could not make any contact with anyone for a little reassurance and help. You have to remember that the internet is a playground for scammers and without having a system in place to reassure your customers we have no idea whats is happening.

For the record the email trying to persuade me to close a claim was not from Leo himself but from someone working for leo.

I think we all know that Leo's cards are by far the best on the market and hope they realise what a good product they have. I think I speak for many out there by saying that consumers urgently need a way to better communicate with Leo and Team. I honestly would prefer buying leo's card and would buy a lot more if I would get a channel of communcication.

On the topic of scammers... If I were the seller, the altered PayPal address system like the one you used would personally make me very wary about the order. As you say, the internet is full of scammers and I would suddenly wonder if someone had done some identity theft and was using the stolen credit card and personal data to order some stuff to their own address in the UK. Also, keep in mind that lots of sellers ship immediately after receiving the order (like Leo says he did) for the sake of fast customer service and get so much mail in the meanwhile that they might not get to your mail about order changes until its too late. I personally always rewrite the full length of my order including all details agreed upon in the PayPal "comments to the seller" section just to make sure there are minimal error in the order and also to assist the seller in case he doesn't immediately understand where the payment is coming from and what it is for.

    :Just my two cents:

I have ordered the buo836X cards a few times and have always had prompt service.

The last one I had ordered (about 3 weeks ago) was delivered to Canada here , in about 2 weeks.

Pretty quick service with no problems.

Re: Does Leo Bodnar still sell controller cards?

    Hi Guys,

I just want to add that I am a big fan of Leo and what he has brought to our relatively small and specialist hobby and others like it.

Leo has now caught up and emailed me regarding my problem.

Let me just put this out there for anyone reading this having doubts about the products/services.

I have a number of boards from Leo and one did go wrong - this board was about 2 years old and I tried everything to get it working.

Leo offered to take a look and fix it for me, no questions. He has tested and done everything he can to ensure it will work for me as it does for him. The problem, embarrassingly could have simply been with my powered USB hub or PSU.

Now I do not know of any other place where I can buy electrical components, tinker around with them for 2 years doing whatever I wish and when they go wrong have the company offer to fix the part and return it to me for free!!!!

Many operations like Leo's will find a market and the opportunity for profit then sell out to a bigger operation and as consumers we then pay 3,4,5 times what we are used to.

We have seen this in the sim building world - look at the main big players in the cockpit software market (ten fold increases in some cases...)

So taking into account the amount of work, effort and commitment that goes into sustaining running 'solo' we should all be thankful of suppliers such as Leo and forgive the odd detail which can often (and myself included) come down to our own impatience which comes as a direct result of our love for this hobby.

    Happy Landings!!

    Jon

Re: Does Leo Bodnar still sell controller cards?

Not that he needs my support (he seems to have lots) but I just want to say I haven't ordered anything from Leo yet but about a month ago I emailed him about his product and he responded in like 30 minutes. I then had another question and again he responded right away giving me the answers I needed in a clear non-technical manner that I could understand. I'm still in the planning stages in trying to building my own home cockpit so I think it's important to say that I have had a good experience with Leo. It's important becasue any newbie like myself searching the boards for positive (and negative) comments about companies and products should be aware that from what I've researched Leo and his products are top notch. But I think we all know that you CAN NOT please everybody all the time in business.

I will be editing and closing this topic. I think we have all established that Leo does still sell his cards. Anyone that has any questions please contact him through his advertised contact details.

    Thanks.
